I'm skeptical already, but we'll see. Verbal and emotional abuse but not physical. So the kid didn't like getting yelled at? Also, Bross was a walk on. He wasn't receiving a scholarship for playing. Why didn't he simply quit if it was so bad? It doesn't add up. Would have made more sense if this came from Cerroni.

Hopefully we have full disclosure and the facts are presented.
No one is guilty until proven guilty!
It will make for good discussion though!

I think Bross is just mad that he was only brought in for a practice dummy for AB.

The Mike Rice/Rutgers situation was deplorable and disgusting.....That is a coach that went WAY over the line from the normal yelling and screaming and mind games a coach would do.
However, is this more of a function of this generation's kids and the helicopter parents that coddle them? If their kid isn't the star, it's everyone's else's fault and fail to look in the mirror. It is odd that the complaint came from Bross, who didn't even start on his own HS team, and would have been lucky to be a contributor by the time he was a junior.....This looks like a knee jerk reaction in the light of the Rutgers scandal, thinking that every coach who may yell and scream and plays mind games on players is just like Mike Rice.
To those who were around during the Dick Bennett era.....Would the same kind of investigation have been done on DB?? Although he was mild-mannered off the court, h.e was more than intense on the court and had his own mind games he would play on his players.
With this investigation, will it affect BW's ability to fill those last 2 scholarships?? I'm sure other schools will use this against him......Will this sway Jake Thomas away from GB??
I find it funny that bigv is joining this message board right before this story develops......

I'm sure other schools will use this against him......Will this sway Jake Thomas away from GB??No. Well, or if it does, maybe they don't need him.

The school is doing the right thing especial with the atmosphere surrounding colleges sports in the past year -- Penn State, Rutgers, etc.
Coaches yell at players -- they always have. The question is was the line crossed -- racial slurs, homophobic, demeaning or vulgar language?
The danger is jumping to conclusions and that are not fair. Chancellor Harden did exactly what he should do. Hats off to responding immediately to clear the air. It is responsive to the student and parent, to Coach Wardle and short circuits (to a degree) those who would take cheap shots, at the student, coach or school.

Hoops....I forgot the DB story about the loss at Illinois in the early years. But today, GOING to McDonald's would be the punishment instead of going to Chipotle....;-)
Hope this investigation is done soon.....We don't need thing hanging over our head. Would these allegations change what kinds of players BW recruits? Maybe he'll focus on programs that have HC's that 'coach hard' and not from a program run by a coach who may be an over-glorified hall monitor who is lucky to have a star player that kinda does what he wants??

I think UWGB is handling this in the best way possible. Using an outside party will yield an unbiased result. I am hopeful this is just a case of tough love taken too personally by a young man.
Someone mentioned Wardles mentors. Mike Deane, Tom Crean and Tod Kowalczyk. A noted hot head with a foul mouth and two guys who fans think talk out of both sides of their mouth depending on what suits them. Wardle seems different as a person but it looks like we are about to find out if that is true.
I attended half of the games in person this year and several times I was sitting very close to the GB bench in fairly quiet arenas. I think it would be fair to describe Coach Wardle as very intense, having a short fuse and at times a foul mouth. Is that uncommon in his profession? Probably not. Is it acceptable in his profession? For me it is but I guess that isn't for me to judge.
The worst part about this is Bross is described by many in the video bios as the nicest guy on the team but he shouldn't have been anywhere near the Dick Bennett gym this year. Bross is a nice guy but a soft player and a total project. Wardle was likely having his short fuse lit by a guy who anyone with a basketball brain knows will never develop into a good D1 player. Wardle should have never brought him in and put himself in this position.
This would make the Kam Cerroni situation make more sense. Not to speculate too much but his dad was described to me by a coworker who used to play for him as a hot head. So maybe that was different.
I wonder about a guy like Aaron Armstead, did he feel the same? He bolted to be with family but ended up at Northern Illinois. Granted it is with his brother but it is a long way from California.

Take notice of the playing time of the players who transfered.
Ceroni had reduced minutes. Arentz struggled in his time he got. bross didnt see the court.
3 of the 4 weren't going to see much playing time.
muhammed is the legit starter who would see alot of minutes next year.
I think alot of other players would have to step forward and confirm this story for anything to happen to wardel, unless they have video evidence. just yelling and getting in players faces during practice with the intent on motivation isn't going to get someone out of a job. in high school, coaches get in players faces during practice, this isnt ymca ball where we dont keep track of score. it'll be interesting to see what happens and what the story is of the "other" players.

Not to speak out of turn but wasn't Bross a kid who didn't even start playing until close to his Junior year of high school (or something close to that)? If the guy had started playing competitive basketball when he was young enough- as most kids do- they learn (as I did) that getting hollered at is part of the culture. What one person considers to be mental & verbal abuse is just the norm for others. Just my two cents.

Pretty crazy to think that in the three years since Brian Wardle became head coach, Green Bay has lost 10 scholarship players (not counting Rian Pearson or Matt Smith who joined TK at Toledo, or Bross and any other walk-ons) to just three for Milwaukee (Lonnie and Shaq Boga, Ja'Rob McCallum).

I just heard something was written in the GB Gazette this afternoon. I think the facts will come out. It's also on the news tonight. Mom and Dad Bross are complaining about verbal and emotional abuse by BW in a letter. In fact the news pointed out that nothing physical was alleged. Verbal use(talking, yelling, teaching) has been used as a motivation tool since BB was organized. Do I like a verbal dress down no. Have I had to do it yes. When a person just doesn't get it over and over you don't have any other choices. Physical is not a choice. I do question the validity of anything mommy and daddy have to do for a grown man. I know I would have told them it's my business and I'll take care of it. I guess this comes with maturity, I wish if Ryan felt this way why didn't he be a man and write the letter? To many parents think jr. is the best player and don't like the truth.

Jeter had a turnstile program his 1st five years there too. The fact the players have quit leaving now is simply because no other scholarship school will take his players. Also, your forgetting Donald Thomas. He was enrolled in summer school before leaving Milwaukee before the fall.
