I don't really go on Twitter that often but several of the remaining players had the same tweet on their page. Something to the effect of a grown man needing his parents to solve his problems. I have nothing to offer other than speculation but I get the sense from the guys who are still part of the team that they don't think Wardle was too far out of line. That's great to hear. I understand it's only speculation, but the fact that the team feels that way is a good sign.

the info coming from the other players on twitter and the former team manager who was interviewed by the paper doesnt help the case to prove emotional abuse. gotta have witnesses step forward to have a legit case. other than people making screen names last second on message boards and stating info anonymously. then when they are called out for being part of "that camp" they mysteriously are gone.

“Wardle was like, ‘that’s a distraction to the team to not take his medicine,’ ” Gina Cougill said.
Umm. Yeah, if you stop taking your depression meds and have a break down during the middle of a game, you are a huge distraction to your team. What the hell lady?

Was there a reason he wasn't taking his medication those days leading up to the game? I don't view that as verbal abuse, a senior in college whose being given a full scholarship to play D1 basketball should be able to take care of something like that, to me that is most definitely a distraction to the team. Unless there was a reason that forced him not to take the medication I don't understand what Cougill and his mother are complaining about there.

Not again.....Regardless of the outcome of the investigation, and assuming that BW will be exonerated, this has to change the philosophy of what kinds of kids BW will recruit.....Kids from HS or JC programs where they have been exposed to hard coaching.
I understand that Cougs was struggling with depression but he also has to do his part and keep taking his medication.

I don't think most people are aware of the cycle of drepession. I had a professional relationship that some times brought me in contact with depressed people. Many times this was around holidays, special occasions or events in their life. The biggest problem is sometimes convincing them after they've been taking the meds for awhile that they need to continue. Many people with clinical depression take their meds and feel better. They convince themselves that they are better and no longer need the meds. Sometimes this can be a life long cycle. Many times if they talked about hurting themselves they were held for 72 hrs. for evaluation so they can be put back on their meds(stabilized). Alot of times it's a life long battle which they sometimes lose prematurely to death.
I'm not defending an adult who quits taking his meds just trying to show it happens more than most people think.
Now for a little humor one cause in children is a controlling parent. Yes Helicopter parents can be a problem and never reconize it.
If I was BW I would becarefull recruiting any player that has a history of moving from school to school. There is a reason they moved around and many will be a distraction before they graduate.

Gina Cougill did not have a single viable complaint in here entire diatribe. Ridiculous that Coach Wardle had to deal with her.
Hoops stated shortly after Cougill's suspension started that if he was coach he'd drive Coug's back to Iowa himself. I disputed that at the time, and I was wrong. I'm going to start listening to what Hoops is saying, and read between the lines.

I think he did the right thing in not having contact with her during the season, parents can drive a coach to swear.

This is just getting ridiculous now. They have no real reasons what so ever. Wardle needs to start looking to bring in well disciplined players or ones who can at least take the criticism to get better. There's a reason Kief, AB, and Jordan aren't complaining.

I can't wait to see the Cerroni complaint. I'm guessing it will read something like "that mean coach benched my son just because he was ineffective at basketball."

If you go off those drugs cold turkey it will screw you up pretty badly. It's all about a chemical balance. Coug clearly came to GB with some issues and I hope he can find his way. D1 one ball was too much pressure at Iowa and GB. He needed a different kind of coach at both places. Maybe for him closer to home and D2 ball might have been better.
Wardle didn't do him a favor by bringing him back on the team. That was clearly a coaching mistake. Wardle probably needed some help from a psychologist to understand the situation and deal with it effectively for this young man. For a 20 year old kid the academic pressures alone can be tough let alone the pressure of division one basketball.
As a long time GB fan I'll be comfortable with whatever findings the independent investigator ends up with.

I too wait to see what Kam says. I hope he has the class and maturity I think he does.
