Brock was not in the portal long. He’s committed to the University of Mary. Division II

That argument that the transferring players would have trouble finding a landing spot doesn't seem to be holding true. The intensity of Wicks simply was not a good fit for most of the players on last season's team. In the end this seems like a win, win for everyone. The old players find a better fit and the new staff brings in players who are fully bought in to the program. I am not certain of it, but I like to think the new coaching staff helped Brock find a team he can shine with.

So, there's something about Mary? The seems to be a connection with Zach Malvik as well. The Mary head coach is a Winona St. Mary's grad and Malvik also coached there.

Ryan Wade is out of the portal back at uwgb. That's weird, I was told there was predetermined cuts. Welcome back Ryan Wade. I appreciate that he defends. I bet he shoots better under this staff too.

Wicks definitely had ideas on what guys he wanted back when he got the job. Some guys did surprise him but some guys he wasn't planning to keep.

With the Antchak commitment, and the return of Wade, do you think the roster is set? Or is one more change on the horizon?

Is Ryan Wade coming back because they can’t get shemar and tyler Henry some of those transfers?

Is Ryan Wade coming back because they can’t get shemar and tyler Henry some of those transfers? The portal isn't even closed yet, there's more players adding there name every day. We'd have new options everyday.

If the roster is set, I can live with it as long as Nelson stays healthy.

With the Antchak commitment, and the return of Wade, do you think the roster is set? Or is one more change on the horizon? The issue isn't that he kept guys that surprised him. The issue for me is that even if some guys met expectations that he had for them, the plan doesn't seem like he was going to keep them. It is water under the bridge though and as a board we don't have to agree. I do like that in the end most of the board feels good about the way the program is going and that is something we can all build from! I would imagine the last scholarship is held on to for a few weeks to see if someone really good comes along. Otherwise I would assume Wade gets it. Wade is steady, brings some nice things to the team and is out of eligibility after this year so it would open a spot for a 2024 player. I believe GB is working hard on several 2024 guys.

Yeah, when you go from playing the swing and pack line to a modern offense and a pressuring defense, you need very different players. It's cool they got Cummings to stay because he fits in any system.

How this roster has been rebuilt amazes me. There is size, muscle and experience that has the potential for a turnaround that could have people talking across the college basketball world. Ryan Wade's retention is underappreciated. Having another experienced point guard provides depth at the most important position. The bulk and athleticism up front that Wicks has brought in should be able to more than hold their own again anyone in the Horizon League.
Now it's time to wait and see if the team will be greater than the sum of the parts.
Here's hoping community leaders will buy in to provide the support to build on a great start to a new era of Nix roundball.
