Reynolds and Wonders had extensive previous connections to the new coaching staff. The rest of the guys they brought in they spent some time with individually and evaluated tape but really don't have much to go on to know for sure if they are any good.
The same process could have been done with Brayden and Jack a month ago.
Brayden has been hurt so what could have changed in his evaluation?
The team wasn't good so if they want to clean house do it a month ago. There is no reason to lead these guys on or hide behind the ambiguous "if I like you" qualification.
I can be excited about the future of the program and at the same time believe GB basketball should operate to a higher standard than what we've seen this week.

The team has been doing workouts, which is a perfect way to evaluate the players. These players weren't just notified yesterday, that's just when it was made public, they've known for awhile.

When its announced and when the paperwork is filed are 2 different things. Everyone was told up front how the situation was going to unfold. Some put there name in the portal and still tried to make the team. Some just tried to make the team. Some players made the team, some didn't.

I’m in the mind set they were just told a couple days ago.
It’s a crappy way to go about things but we are in a results now society.
I hope they can land somewhere to be successful. Both players could benefit to go to a JUCO and get some minutes and then come back to D1. Nothing wrong with that.

I am so confused by what is going on in here. The portal is not closed, these guys are not left hanging. I am sure rose and Dailey are great kids, but if we wanna win basketball games we have to get in good players. Dailey has done nothing in 2 years. Rose is limited offensively to just shooting and very limited defensively. Sunny did not recruit these kids and does not owe them anything. All I have seen is Sunny bringing in some promising looking players. This team was horrible last year. They were not going to magically turn it around with the same players and just a new coach. CC3 was the only player I saw all last year that I really cared about bringing back cause he showed he fit at this level. I am beyond happy with what Sunny is doing.

Entering the portal late means they have less options available to them.

It's crappy to give them a chance to make the team rather than just not renewing their scholarship immediately? I thought it was honorable to give them the opportunity to prove themselves. Some of the players that went through the tryout made the team.

Wicks knew that he was going to attempt to recruit them over. No amount of "try out" was going to prevent that from happening. It was a sham.

We should give everyone a medal and commend the team from last year for trying hard. I'm sure if we continue status quo that will be good for the entire institution and athletic department.
Time for a fresh approach that by the looks at recruiting seems to be working quite well. #juice

It’s the player’s decision to stick around and see if they’ll make the team and Dailey and Rose should’ve known that Sunny would not keep them at this level. What have they done for Green Bay that would make them feel confident enough to go through the trial and make it out? They could’ve immediately entered like other players and went down a level that would better fit them but they took the risk ultimately.

I am not related to or a friend of either Brayden Dailey or Jack Rose. For that matter I don't really know Clarence Cummings III, Brock Heffner, Amari Jedkins or Ryan Wade either. My view on this isn't clouded by personal relationships.
I do believe with a high degree of certainty that CC3 was coming back and that was known to everyone in the program weeks ago, prior to any tryout period beginning. I do believe with a high degree of certainty that Brayden and Jack recently found out that they would not be back and this was not exactly on their radar based on the work they had been doing.
I really don't have a major problem with the coaching staff wanting to bring in their own roster of guys. I don't like that guys are just finding out recently that they should move on. I referenced it earlier and I will repeat it again. Wicks could spend two days with these guys in mid March and make his vision for their future in this program known. He would know who is good enough and who isn't it, this isn't his first rodeo. I highly doubt he was telling them they weren't good enough and he was going to bring in more guys and they stayed anyway to try and prove him wrong. If that is the case I actually appreciate their resolve. It appears Wicks kept them around until he had better guys committed or in the case of Dailey on the verge of committing.
As it turns out Wicks appears to have been hoping to flush guys out and make it seem like it wasn't his choice. He could then get a fresh slate and not burn any bridges. When that didn't happen he had to do what he could have done weeks ago. I like juice but my favorite type isn't kool-aid.
