Another choke job. I just wonder if Wardle watches tape of himself. The constant yelling is so distracting. Just please, sit down and shut up. The guys know to sprint down the court and they know to get up quick when they fall down. I've started to watch other coaches and have yet to find a single coach who yells such rudimentary things like Wardle does. It's insulting to the players IMO.

The FT% is the most telling.....ISU was 27-33 (82%) from the line while GB was 6-13 (46%). Looks like we settled for jump shots again when we have no business (or ability) to take them. Also, where was our defense in the second half? Our inability to shoot the ball is one thing, but good defense should have kept us in the game.....allow 24 points in the first half, but 45 in the second half? Even with our offensive/FT shooting liabilities, there is no excuse in playing bad defense in the second half.

The first half we passed up ridiculously open shots and the second half was marked by taking HORRID jump shots in the infancy of the shot clock. I don't get it. The players don't dictate that stuff, that obviously comes from the bench. Players have a natural instinct and that was quite evidently hampered by the coaches in both halves.

Fire Wardle, fire the A.D., fire the Chancellor, fire the waterboys!!! No one can do anything right!
They lost a road game to a higher seed in a tournament that doesn't matter (at least according to knightly). This was a team that finished second in a conference despite not having a single jump shooter on the team. Sounds like a pretty good coaching job to me.
I used to enjoy reading the posts on this forum. Now it's just a few posters who are butthurt because they don't like Wardle. He's a good coach who isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Get over it.
Now, I'm going to make the point I came on here to make. Keifer deserves to go out in a better way than that, but he goes down as one of the best Phoenix of all-time, a great guy, and a great representative of UWGB. An underrecruited underdog, who developed into a borderline NBA player (despite completely inept coaching!). Can't wait to watch him in the future.

Well I guess we learned that the second best team in the MVA at home is better than the second best team in the Horizon. That should not be a surprise. Thanks for an entertaining year guys, now go out and work on your degrees.

Some positives to take away from the game. GB beat their 3/4 quarter court defense easily and forced IL St to give up on that. GB did a good job in the first half going against their zone. They got the ball to the V and Y of valley, which is just below the free throw in the paint. Il St had to go away from that defense for a while as well. Now GB did take a lot of 3's in the first half but they had plenty of other good looks and moved the ball well to get those looks. Another positive was Small, Francis and Kanter all made positive contributions at the same time. Small still struggled with his shot but this was by far his most active game. He had 6 points, 5 boards and 2 steals. Daeshon had 6 points, 3 assists and a steal. Kanter with 4 points and 3 boards in 8 minutes was a good effort from him. Also, GB was out rebounded by 5 but I don't think they were out hustled. ISU was big and was able to get the position boards, but GB grabbed a lot of hustle boards. Finally, they started slow but they didn't quit. They rallied and had a nice lead. Even if they ran out of gas you could tell the game mattered to the guys and they gave a good effort. The not so good...well, Carrington continued his poor shooting. He had some nice floor play but he grabbed some pine when Small started to show some game. The fouls, especially for Jordan. He wasn't quick enough on the perimeter or big enough inside. GB is going to have a hard time winning when he is sitting. The size, man ISU was big. Lynch looked like Tevah Morris with skills which is to say man he was ripped. The other big guy was a giant as well. It did make me think of guys like Kanter and Torres differently as they have the bulk to do similar things potentially. Tough to lose but ISU was a very solid team at home and GB played tough. Thanks to the seniors, I have had a lot more fun than frustration over the past few years.
