Mid 50 wasn't good enough for ncaa's consideration. If we won enough to stay in mid 30 s we prolly woulda gotten in. Think about it we lost three to four games on free throws alone. Better free throws and maintain rpi in mid 30 gets us in then.

Reggie Lynch is going to slaughter us on the glass. Belmont at the Resch all over again. Don't know that if I can even bear to watch Sykes, Mays, McKinnine AND Humphrey go out like that.

Oakland and cleveland st both playing in cit. I'll predict they both do well. Oakland starts at home, which is super important for them.

Better free throws and maintain rpi in mid 30 gets us in then. The selection committee has a preconceived notion of which conferences should have more than one team in the tournament, regardless of their performance. RPI means nothing to a mid-major unless you play in the WCC or the MVC according to them. The Horizon is nothing more than a one team league and nothing in the committee's eyes will change that I guess.

How did the caa ever get three in. There were years we got two in. We even had a year where we got three in. Also we got in as an at large once. You know ur college basketball history.
Middle tennesse got an at large from the sun belt few years ago

It will be interesting to see how the 30 second shot clock affects the NIT games

I don't know enough about any of the teams in GB's bracket to say they can win a game, two or three. Like others though I do appreciate that there is an open path for somebody to go to New York from this bracket without having to play at a high major team in their gym.
Illinois State finished 6-4 in their last 10 games. That could be misleading as they did win 6 in a row and upset Wichita State in that stretch. So are they due to cool off? Are they over confident vs. GB? Is GB going to be shake off last weeks disappointment? I think a win will be harder to come by than the casual observer for either team would think.
Reggie Lynch is a big body but didn't have much range when I saw him against DePaul this season. He did have a great game when I did see him play. A tough matchup for sure but hard to know if he will slaughter GB especially since he has been foul plagued coming down the stretch. As a freshman he averaged 8.3 points and 4.8 boards in 20 minutes on 58% shooting. In his second year he averaged 9.4 and 5.4 in 22 minutes on 51% shooting. I wonder what GB fans would say if we had a 6'10" big body who showed that kind of statistical "improvement" year over year?

Disappointed that GB didn't get a home game, but looking at the brackets, that there were only 3 Power 5 teams that got a #1 or #2 seed, and that you had some less familiar names who got top seeds. Since the NIT Selection Committee gave #1 seeds to the 'First 4 Out' for the NCAA's, I'm surprised that Richmond got a #1 seed, and that they were even that close for an NCAA bid. I thought Miami should have gotten the other #1 seed.
In GB's bracket, I really can't complain the other teams that got top seeds. #1 ODU was 2nd place in Conf-USA and has been a bubble team; #2 Tulsa was 2nd in the AAC and was also a bubble team as well; #3 Murray State was 27-5, was 16-0 in the OVC and lost on a last second shot to Belmont (both of those team would look REALLY good in the HL right now and boost our conference RPI); #4 Ill. St. was 3rd in the MVC and should have knocked off Northern Iowa in the MVC championship game.....I like the idea that our bracket has no Power 5 schools and that we will have at least 1 non-Power 5 team in NYC. When you look at the other brackets. There are 2 Power 5 teams, but in the Richmond bracket, you have 4 teams.
It will be interesting if GB can get an NIT run going......

I took a look at the CBI and CIT brackets. The CBI only has 1 Power 5 team in it (Colorado), and resembles more of a CIT field since there are no other schools from non-Power 5 conferences like the MWC, Big East, Conf-USA, AAC, or the A-10. Loyola-IL is in it, and Cleveland State is in the CIT....I heard many Power 5 schools have turned down CBI invites. It's not the NCAA or NIT but it's more basketball and can develop a team for next season.
With the financial guarantees that are required by the CBI, I see schools declining CBI invites because of this requirement.
I can see the CBI going away soon if their tourney field resembles the one for 2015. The CBI and CIT should merge; Take the CBI name, expand the field to 32 teams (like with the CIT), create a bracket like the CBI (the CIT does not bracket and reseeds after every round), but reseed after the 2nd round (like the CBI), but expand the invites to non-Power 5 teams (MWC, Big East, Conf-USA, AAC, or the A-10 schools) and not strictly restrict it to mid and low-major programs to create some better matchups. But you would keep the best 2 of 3 games championship format like with the CBI.

Good question, whish I knew the answer.....I know the CBI Championship games are on CBS Sports Network. I know they used to be on HDNet; I don't know of a soul that has had that channel.

I'm not sure what you're getting at, but I hope you are not implying that Reggie Lynch is comparable to Ken Lowe. We really have no answer for Lynch and if Henry is back, I hope we match the two up as a sort of experiment. I have no expectations for this team. Honestly I'm bracing for a Belmont repeat from last year which will be so hard to watch.
