I know anything can happen but if you had to press me for a prediction I would take the high road and go with GB over CSU in the tournament. These are the two best teams over the duration of the entire league play. They have a huge +/- for the year, many double digit wins and some of the best athletes. Don't get me wrong, I am not sleeping on anyone. For sure WSU has rallied the troops for a big finish to the season so they could easily come from that side.
Interesting side note is that Valpo and uwm are on the GB side of the bracket. So if you will get nervous in the semi finals because of who has proven they can beat GB then this might not be good for you. If you believe it is hard to beat a team 3 times then you don't mind as GB swept the other side of the bracket.

I would be nervous if we drew UWM in the semis based on our 10 pt. loss at home to them a few weeks back.......You know they will bring a contingent of fans north, and they will be looking to play the role of spoiler. If GB loses in the semis, I think our NCAA bubble will burst. The only way we gat an at-large is if we make it to the HL final, and lose a close one to CSU (since they are the only other top 100 RPI team in the HL).

I don't think there is any way Green Bay gets to the NCAA Tournament as an at large. Take away all politics and win the Horizon League Tournament.

Hello to all Green Bay fans here I am a Cleveland State fan making a visit to your forum. First I want to congratulate you guys on a tremendous and impressive season. I have always been a fan of you guys even as far back in the 90s when Jeff Nordgaard played here. I remember in 1994 when you guys shocked the world beating Jason Kidd and Cal but you didn't shock me I picked you guys that year to win that game. I remember that great 1996 season and I also remember being so upset when you were given an 8 seed and paired in #1 seed Kentucky's region as Kentucky is my favorite team not named Cleveland State. I really thought that 1996 team could make the sweet 16 or even Elite 8 but then you got beat by Va Tech and that was the last time we have seen you in the tournament. You and Cleveland State share that each of us has made it twice to the big dance.
As far as your at large hopes go should you lose in the championship game I think you guys should be in but I am also feeling a bad vibe that you will get screwed over and won't make it. You have a great win over Virginia you have a close lose to Wisconsin. You should get some slack for losing at Valpo without Brown since the big name teams get a break when they have their stars out in a loss. I still am scratching my head over that home loss to Milwaukee a team Cleveland State destroyed twice. I also wish you guys had beat Harvard that would have probably been the win to get you over the top.
Last year I was one of the few that put Middle Tennessee in their bracket and that got me a perfect 68/68 and let us now look at their resume last year. 28-5 (19-1) RPI 29 SOS 129 NC SOS 9, 1-3 vs RPI top 50, 0-0 vs 51-100, 27-2 vs 101+
Where you guys are lacking is in the RPI as you stand at 49 right now and can only go down with a loss especially since it be at home. Your SOS is 145 and NC SOS is 52. 1-1 vs top 50 and 3-2 vs 51-100, 17-2 vs 101+
So your numbers are better in games played having those 3 51-100 wins. Where you lack is overall RPI and NC SOS. Middle Tennessee had amazingly only 1 top 100 win and got in.
With how crappy all these big name schools are doing on the bubble it be complete crap if you didn't get in if you make the Horizon championship game then lost.
In any event should CSU lose Saturday will be rooting for you guys to take it down. My real hope is we somehow beat you guys in the finals and both of us get in like how 2009 happened with CSU and Butler.
I think you guys are the best team this year and you guys beat us badly at our place and won both games so you certainly are the heavy favorite.
Good luck to you guys the rest of the year and I will be back later either way win or lose.

Did you guys just see what happened in the Oakland game ? OK let me set this up.....YSU leads 80-79 after Bader hit a 3 point shot with 2.3 seconds left. Then on the inbounds YSU gets fouled with 0.4 seconds left so the game is over because all YSU has to do is miss 2nd FT.........so what happens ? OK so he misses 1st FT more reason for YSU to miss the 2nd right So he makes the 2nd FT and so the refs now go look at the clock and make it 0.6 seconds but while looking at the clock Oakland draws up the play where the guy on the baseline runs and Bader runs over in front and the YSU guy bowls him over foul called and Bader makes 2 FT's to send to OT........

That was a wild finish. Same thing happened in 2007 (about 2:40 mark of this video
Oakland wins 96-92 over Youngstown State in overtime.

I remember that game too. They mentioned it on the broadcast.
So if YSU misses that 2nd FT up 1 with 0.4 seconds left they win because there is no way you can get a rebound and shoot a shot in that time frame....here is what I don't get the refs wait until after he shot his 2nd FT to look at the clock and reset it at 0.6 seconds. They should have done that before any FT's were taken. So by waiting until after the 2nd FT was shot and made it gave Oakland a chance to draw up a play there on a free timeout that Oakland did not have now that Oakland knew they were down 2 and had to inbounds the ball.
If the refs had correctly looked at the clock before any FT's were taken the guy misses then makes the 2nd Oakland may not have known to try to run that play because that thought may have never entered the coaches mind plus the YSU players would not have been set up for defensive position which actually hurt them on this play because they were able to get a guy down on the baseline.

That was such a wild game in Oakland! I was thinking about the same thing when the refs waited until after the free throws to look at the clock. How does Youngstown not see that play coming tho?? The amount of basketball IQ showed there by both the player and coach is just laughable. I've seen that play defended better by a 5th grade team. Yikes.
I watched some of the Valpo game and the reffing made me nervous. They were calling so many touch fouls. Same in the Oakland game. They better not do that this weekend. Let the players and coaches decide the games.

Hello to all Green Bay fans here I am a Cleveland State fan making a visit to your forum. Henrymuto it is always good to have more conversations, thanks for posting. One quick question, what is the best CSU message board? The last one that I used to view is always filled with spam threads. In case it comes to a CSU vs GB final I am sure everyone will want to get a little banter going.

I know GB hasn't accomplished a whole lot over the last 18 years so it could be odd that I am writing this. Can we agree that if YSU doesn't dump Sloan that the HL should dump YSU? I know there are structural issues with YSU athletics. The fans of this league spend a lot of time talking about expansion and only bringing in teams that are additive to the HL hoops brand. Yet nothing is done about programs already in the league that are dragging it down. If YSU for sure and probably UIC don't get new coaches it pretty much shows they are content. Now that they are both out the HL tournament it shouldn't it only be a matter of days until both guys get the hammer dropped on them?

As for the remaining games it is interesting for GB. Milwaukee vs Valpo...at least one of the two teams that beat GB is going home on Friday. I am not sure who I would prefer to face.
Against Milwaukee GB got off to good starts and had 11 and 8 point leads before hitting the skids. One time they recovered and the other time they did not. I was at the second half of the Milwaukee game last night and I thought they did a good job of making the extra pass to find open guys. They didn't do a great job defensively but Howard hit a lot of tough one on one plays that pretty much couldn't be stopped anyway.
On the Valpo side they kind of limped in to the tournament. They beat GB when they were short handed and lost fairly easily when GB was at full strength at home. Still they have some talent and must be respected.
If GB can play a full game they should win against either team but I am not sure yet who I would prefer them to play.
