Also: you guys were louder than WSU despite being a smaller crowd.

Milwaukee had a quick start to this game and WSU had a lid on the basket early on, like GB did last Saturday. I think the closest WSU got was within 4 late, if I'm not mistaken. Say what you want about 3-point shooting, but I think a team must knock down a few, if for no other reason than to keep the defense honest. Agree about the 3 point shooting. Green Bay was one of the HLs best, shooting 36% on 3s. Milwaukee struggled through the season in part because they shot just 32% on 3s. When looking at the entire season, GB shot 36% from 3, which included those D2 games. When breaking it down to just the conference league games GB ranked 6th in 3pt% shooting 33%. The 3 point shot is the great equalizer, you need to be consistent from 3 to open up the lane and partially prevent help D from opposing defenders, with a solid 3pt attack just imagine how much more Sykes, Mays and others could do attacking the rim.

UWM took it up a notch last night though, they hit 3's at a 50% clip. Seems like during the HL tourney at least they took them in volume. It can be a double-edged sword to be sure. If only the season averages are what we got on Saturday.........

WSU had a golden opportunity based on GB's upset by UWM, and like GB they also blew it......Where was this Milwaukee team the entire season? Hats off to them. Hope they don't get a #16 seed. As a #15 they have a puncher's chance based on recent success of #15's and the fact that they have a great PG in Jordan Aaron.......If they do get the #16 seed, I hope they draw Wichita St. They are bound to succumb under the pressure and lose; they haven't been challenged very much in a weak MVC this season.
I know UWM has struggled last season, but I will hand it to Rob Jeter, he seems to find transfers (JC or other D1 programs) and make it work.....He has a monopoly on the Iowa JC's right now. 5 players on his roster are from Iowa JC's, 4 of them are part of the rotation, and 3 are major contributors (Tiby, Aaron, and Moore). Stev McWhorter is a transfer from Indiana State.....GB seems to stub their toe on transfers of any kind lately (and even going back to late in the TK era); Cole Stafan left and is flaming out at UND, Lamin Fulton can't hit the broad side of a barn, and Vince Garrett is nowhere to be found. I wish Sultan Muhammad would have stayed for his senior year. Although he was inconsistent himself, he was a much better shooter than the 3 players previously mentioned and he would have been more productive than those 3 players combined. His shooting alone would have helped open things up for the rest of the team. Our depth at SG killed us at times (the EMU, UWM, and Valpo games come to mind), and the HL tourney exposed us once again.....
We will be sweating it out on Sunday, and we will be having the woulda, coulda, shoulda conversation when it's all over. Get ready for Marquette???

Milwaukee really pulled together at the right time. Congrats to them. With Jordan Aaron they have a guy who could help the roll keep going. I thought WSU really soiled themselves early. They had so many silly mistakes to start the game, they really got in a hole.
Why don't any teams double Kyle Kelm? He comes across the lane over his left should with a right hand hook for a lot baskets. It is his move and yet WSU and GB both let him go to it often.
As for GB you can't say they missed on Al McKinnie as a transfer. He looks like he is going to be pretty good next year.
I don't have any insight just a gut feeling but Sultan didn't seem like he fit with the rest of the personalities on the team. I would prefer him over Lamin for sure but something isn't right because he left and doesn't seem to be playing anywhere.
Arroyo Edwards is looking like an even more important potential recruit for next year based on the lack of consistent outside shooting on the team. Not to play woulda coulda shoulda but Milton Doyle had a good year for Loyola and he probably would have looked really nice in GB's lineup.

Duh....I forgot about Al McKinnie; thanks for the reminder GBPhoneix1. Injuries have been the only think holding him back. From what little we got out of him, it was good. If he is healthy next season, he will be all-conference.

If only the season averages are what we got on Saturday......... On Saturday Milwaukee shot just 7-23 on 3s. They do space the floor well. They're the one team in the conference GB can't use their dominant zone against. However, I'm not about to copy Milwaukee's method of operation though, they had more 20+ point losses this year than Green Bay had total losses. It's extremely difficult to find top shooters who are also top defenders.
