In my banter with the Valpo board, they also brought up a good point that this is exactly what AP did for them last year. It was iffy on whether he was going to get drafted, so he used the combine and workouts to gauge feedback from scouts as to what he had to work on. Kerem might not want to play his hand right now because if everyone knows he's coming back, the scouts might not be upfront with him. www.valpofanzone.com/forum/index.php?topic=2814.0

He's assured of being "The Featured Player" in the Nix offense next season. Everything other option has a percentage of doubt.

A quick and clear yes or no would be a lot better for recruiting purposes. We all appreciate Kerem's contributions to the program and wish him well no matter what.

Two wholly different statements in the same article from Kerem:
“He came in on (Thursday) and said he wanted to put his name in the NBA draft to test the NBA draft waters,” UWGB coach Linc Darner said. “We support him in that. We will see how that process goes.”
*one paragraph later*
“You know, if I’m confident with it, I’m going to keep going with it,” Kanter said. “It’s not just testing the waters. I’m almost 22 years old. I think I am ready for that level. If I have the opportunity, why not? Nobody from Green Bay is playing in the NBA right now, so why wouldn’t I be the first one?”

My god this guy is all over the place...I really wish him the best but I think reality will hit him pretty hard. He can go pro eventually, but I really don't see an NBA jump in his near future.

I like his game and how he came on this year but there isn't a school on this planet or any other that will get him drafted in the NBA. I appreciate his contribution to GB and hope he decides to stay after exploring his options but he isn't an NBA player. If he does end up leaving he needs to find a team that plays slow and can feature him in the post while covering up any defensive short comings he has. If he doesn't end up at a P5 school I will be really annoyed that he left GB.

I was pretty convinced that next year was going to be sort of a re-building year even with Kanter there. This will solidify that I think 2018-19 has a chance to be a better year if the recruits turn out as good or better than expected. If Cohen gets another year of eligibility, they would only have two seniors next season and could build towards 2018.
If Cohen gets that extra year and everyone sticks around, they could be quite a handful in 2018-19. I think next year they're going to have to gain experience and cohesiveness.

If he doesn't end up at a P5 school I will be really annoyed that he left GB. If Kanter wants to be noticed for the NBA, he should have stayed at GB where he could possibly average 16 pts. & 10 rebs./game and make all-league next year. With GB's style of play, he got some easy transition baskets plus with GB playing the 7th fastest pace in college ball this past season, he got 10 to 15 more possessions per game than he may get at another school. Those 10-15 team possessions got him another 3-4 shots per game. By going to a P6 school he could end up being a role player or off the bench where he may be lucky to average 4 pts. & 2 rebs/game. Saw on the Illinois board that someone wrote they need to bring in a player to give there big man a rest for 3-5 minutes each half. They listed Kanter as their 5th choice for that because he has good bloodlines and he could play those few minutes per game they need. 6-10 minutes per game is going to get him ready for the NBA?? Just because you have a brother in the NBA does not mean you have the same talent or ability. Plus once they see that he is closer to 6'8" rather then 6'10", they will be less interested. Someone is giving him bad advice. Glad we got our 2 big freshmen coming in next year and if we add a JC big man, we will be better in the long run. Would go ahead and fill his scholarship. Lot of respect to Peters at Valpo who was loyal to the program he played for and is a definite NBA prospect. Before someone writes, "but he broke his foot", he could have broken it if he had transferred too.

I just about threw up in my mouth when some guy on the Bradley board SERIOUSLY suggested they were the front runners to land Kerem once he withdraws from the draft.

He may very well go to Bradley. Wardle is the one that recruited him and Kanter may look at Alec Brown getting drafted and think the same could happen for him. Kanter would get a lot of minutes next year as he is skilled but I think he wants to go to a system that may show his skills a bit more. He will never be the fastest or most athletic guy on the floor but Wardle may work the offense through him. Also, Kerem's brother Enes has never been confused as a defensive player in the NBA, so I have never thought Kerem would develop into one at Green Bay.
If he does leave and go to Bradley I wish him luck.

I could see him going to Bradley. He may realize that it will come down to major minutes at a mid major or being the 7-9th guy at a not so great P5 school. A half court offense would fit his style of play.

I think they just like the name, honestly. Most of those schools would have him coming off the bench for 10-15 mpg at the most.
