Based out of what we're hearing out of Turkey anyone who opposes the president is being strong armed. That government is no longer a democracy.

by all means it is a terrible day for Pro Kanter and his family. What adds to the confusion is our president praises him. Prayers are out for Kanter.

Coach Darner was quoted in ESPN about grad transfers. It came to light after Kanter has put together several good games in a row for Xavier and just made a huge game winning 3 pointer.
I kind of disagree with all sides of the article.
For Kanter he mentioned not making the tournament. I am pretty sure I recall Kenny Lowe getting in foul trouble against TAMU in OKC and Kanter launching many shots in a short period of time. He must of thought the crowd would confuse him with his brother.
The truth is he went to a program that plays in a big time atmosphere, against good teams and usually makes a run in March all while doing everything first class. Good for him. He just has never been that transparent about it. I'm going pro, oh no I'm not and might come back because I love GB. Now I am going to Xavier, oh Xavier can get somewhere GB hasn't.
For Coach Darner I think the first mid major coach that embraces the give me 3 of your best playing years might actually come out ahead. If you get enough guys that come in and eventually could be at the high major level then you might actually get a few of them to stay. Think about it. If guys are that good the team will be winning. If the team is winning the atmosphere and experience will be even better for them and they won't want to go. GB has had a bunch guys making money playing hoops so if you can ball the pro scouts will find you.

Losing a player is all about timing for the coach and school the player is leaving. From what we know Kanter and Anderson needed to be up front much earlier. That said God speed to both of them and nothing but the best. If anyone goes low -- we go high and with class.

Well any thoughts of Kanter sitting on the pine have gone out the window. He is playing and scoring plenty of late for Xavier. He is becoming a fan and media favorite with his old school post game. His plan was to get more exposure and improve his pro chances and to his credit he has done that. Congrats to him.

A tip of the hat to the young man. Can you imagine the impacvt he would have had on the Nix this season?

goxavier.com/news/2018/2/12/mens-basketball-kanter-earns-a-spot-on-the-big-east-weekly-honor-roll.aspxKanter is slowly becoming the best player for the #4 team in the country. I am not happy that he left UWGB the way that he did, but I can't blame him after looking at the season that he is having. Last three years' Horizon League had to be better than this years BigEast Conference because Kanter was the 7th player in his team in minutes. He is ranked second in Big East in points per40 with 26.1 points. It makes no sense that Linc Darner didn't play this kid 30 minutes a game as soon as he stepped a foot on campus. We could have had an all-american in Phoenix jersey instead we are 0-14 on the road and is ranked top 10 worst RPI schools in the country. Nicely done Linc.

1. Kanter played his freshman year under Wardle 2. He was behind guys like Mays, McKinney, Fouse early on and certainly brought a different style of play that a coach isnt going to taylor to a young guy on a good team. 3. In limited time as an underclassman, he didn't show the ability to play more than 10-15 minutes a game. His body was soft. 4. To his credit and certainly some credit to the coaching staff- He developed into a beast once he was given the opportunity last season.
Karem Kanter was not the all everything prospect his brother was out of Turkey. He has developed and certainly has his body now to the point where he can play the 4 at a high level. He proved a lot of us wrong in how much success he has had at Xavier.

Karem has gotten faster and stronger and realizes that he has to give 100 % maximum effort at Xavier. In my opinion, I’m not sure that was always the case at Green Bay. It’s funny how competing for playing time (while not guaranteed)at Xavier will do that to a player.

As I recall Kanter lost something like 40 pounds between his Freshman and Junior years.

As I am going through Kanter's career at UWGB, he wasn't in the rotation when they played Central Michigan on November 26th. Played zero minutes. He then had 23 points 11 days later when two teams played each other again. Karem had 19 straight points in the second half in a span of five minutes that kept GB in the game. Green Bay eventually lost again because of Marcus Keene's 40 points, but my point is that the kid didn't get better in 11 days. He was capable of dong that but was never given the opportunity until the middle of his junior season. I am not mad at Kanter or Anderson because obviously things weren't going well at Green Bay. Anderson on the other hand, chose to came to Green Bay and was recruited by Linc Darner. Even though he was playing starter minutes as a freshman, he must have not been happy with the situation that he was in. I hope that the young group that we have now can learn how to play with each other and learn the system eventually.
