Monte Bearden is playing out of this world for Germantown at the WBY Tournament. I can't believe we let him get out of state.

Based on his play at the WBY, Marquette and UW should be saying the same thing. That guy looks really smooth with the ball and score in a lot of ways but was also a great passer. He is going to be very good at Buffalo.

www.verbalcommits.com/players/carson-shanksThe link I attached is for a 7'0" center from Minnesota named Carson Shanks. He was a freshman this year at Utah State. He was going to redshirt this year but left at the semester break to be closer to home. Two things about that. First, I wonder if he would have any interest in being the next 7 footer from Minnesota to be featured on the Phoenix? Second, I see he was a guest of the Golden Gophers on Saturday. So if he ends up U of Minnesota that might take them out of the running for Fred Iduwe which would be good for GB.

Would love to see him follow AB to UWGB and if he came at break it would be a great oppurtunity to practice against AB. If you click on his link he's not a Packer fan but he doesn't need to be to play BB. Plus he could always go to 1 Vikings game a year lol. It sounds like he's very dedicated to BB and it's only a 5 hr. drive for family to watch him. He probably needs to make a quick decision on a D1 College, enroll in a JC or community college. Any knowledge if GB has sent out any feelers or AB has talked to him? Our Grandaughter goes to UWRF's and it's only 30 miles from MSP and we make it in 4 hrs. He committed to Utah State on 11/18/2011.

It would be nice to get one of these big men. Sounds like a shoulder injury followed by a harness on his shoulder hurt him this year. Do we still have Dan Turners scholarship available after the break? Places to go are limited at this time of year unless he plans on paying his own way. My count is 12 right now with out Dan T. and we can have 13. Luke Fischer eat your heart out. You could have been the next Alec Brown and been playing with Keifer Sykes next year. Your loss dude.

Luke Fischer would be an unbelievable addition. Green Bay was one of the first to offer him in HS. He grew up a Marquette fan, and Brian Wardle was the first Marquette star he saw. GB has a scholarship open with Turners graduation and departure. Fischer could practice against Alec Brown this year and replace him next year and be part of an outstanding team. Fischer would be eligible to play after the 1st semester concludes next year.
Fischer reportedly was extremely homesick. GB is close enough to Germantown, and the smaller campus might make the college transition easier for him.
Seems like a good kid. Best of luck to him whatever he decides.

I can't help but think these big man transfers open the door for GB to get a big of their own. Maybe it isn't Shanks or Fischer but if they go to the right schools that could open Iduwe and Heldt up more.
I cant see MU getting Pierce, Fischer, maybe Stone and still needing Heldt...let alone showing any more interest in Iduwe.
If Fischer goes to UW (which the rules discourage) and they get Stone or Ellenson that could help GB land Heldt.
If Shanks ends up at UM then their interest in Iduwe probably goes down.
I can see MU being the leader if he was a fan and was homesick but I am hopeful that he gives GB a serious look. They have a lot to offer to fit him and he would be the talented bigman with 3.5 to play I was hoping for.

Mark Miller tweeted a long list of schools with interest in Fischer. If he really left Indiana to be closer to home GB might have a chance. Especially if what I read on another forum about his parents living west of GB by two hours is true. Only UW would be as close. If he is open to any location then he has lots of quality choices, depending on scholarships and depth charts.
I just hope he ends up at GB, Marquette or UW. I hate that some of the best talent has been leaving the state out of high school (tokoto, looney, jamil wilson, lachance, m. thomas).

It does sound like GB has a chance if what he said is true about leaving. Also doesn't Crean and Coach BW have a tie together from MU days. I seem to remember during the inquest Crean backing BW? It may help if he was happy with their coaches and asks for advice. Having recruited him should be a plus for GB. I know it's wishful thinking but who knows. I also would love to see him stay in state if we don't get him. But doesn't UW and MU have commitments from other bigs? I know you can never have to many because of Injuries. I found a thread from his senior year. It looks like the family moved to the Wis. Rapids area after the school year. Mom took a new job and drove 350 miles from work to home every weekend. He's also a only child so I'm sure he's very close to his parents. GB is also the shortest drive 2hrs, 2 1/2 hrs to UM and 3 1/2 to UWM. www.menomoneefallsnow.com/sports/191475321.html

Luke Fischer just tweeted that "out of respect to Coach Crean I won't be considering any Big Ten schools".
It would be phenomal if he choose Green Bay, it's really a perfect fit from all angles.

His girl friend goes to UWRF so I'm guessing he wants an offer from U of Minn. seeing it's only 30 miles away. If he doesn't get it it could get very interesting. We drive to UWRF every other month and it's a 4 hr drive from GB. Also 4 hr drive to Madison. Probably 6+ hrs to Milwaukee, so some Schools in Iowa are probably closer.

I spent way too much time on twitter and message boards yesterday. I think the guy (Ryan James?) who does a lot of articles on the gophers scout page and message board indicated that Shanks is a done deal to Minnesota and just needs to finish his enrollment. I have no clue if he even looked for other opportunities but I still think that is great because it reduces Minnesota's need for other big guys in the area that GB might have a chance with.

Fischer tweeted he is going to Marquette. Also, considered Milwaukee and Creighton. I think that is a good choice for him. I hope this helps GB land Heldt.
Just a guess but with MU and uwm in the cut it looks homesick is more of missing familiar surroundings and friends than parents.

Disappointing that Fischer decided to join the 3rd best team in Wisconsin. Too bad we won't get to see Fischer play live, simply because Buzz Williams to too chicken to play Green Bay again. Fischer becomes Marquette's 1st recruit in a year who hasn't been suspended. Good for them.
