Daeshon Francis is in Green Bay on an official visit this weekend. The 6'3" combo guard has serious hops, and he's known for his tenacious on ball defense. He'd fit perfectly here.

He seems like a great prospect for the style GB plays. His highlight video is missing him taking and making a lot of jumpers. I hope he is a better shooter than I am giving him credit for.

Tre Harris, who decided to go prep instead of committing to the GB '13 class (I believe his only D1 offer), has just committed to Kansas State. It's unfortunate that we weren't able to land him as it seems like he would have likely been a steal. I do like the fact though, that Wardle and co seem to be on these guys early, before they break out. Certainly a good sign.

I think a team that plays slower and sets a lot of screens is probably a better fit for Tre Harris than the way GB plays based on the videos of his play. I do wonder if he will be a long term fit at K-State. Coach Webber recruited another fast rising mid major player from Illinois, Michael Orris, and he barely played and transferred after one year. To go from Chicago State and SIU-Edwardsville offers in the spring to the Big 12 in the fall is a big jump.

Green Bay has offered Nigerian center Fred Iduwe. The 6'11" big man will prep this year at St. John's Northwest Military Academy. He played HS ball in Alabama. Here is a recent update on Fred Iduwe. He doesn't have any offers that are "better" than GB but he is getting interest from some solid teams. The more I read about how him the more I am open to him. There are a lot of big foreign guys who are raw that end up at high majors and never really develop. However, if that same guy plays at a program like GB he can probably be a decent contributor by the time it is all said and done even if the offense never really becomes a go to part of his game. Plus at this point I think GB needs to add size to their recruiting for 2014 and they still are not associated with many big guys. www.startribune.com/sports/blogs/228806861.html

PG Tevin King from Providence St. Mel's (Illinois) is visiting this weekend. He was offered by Green Bay a few weeks ago. He was teammates with Khalil Small, a guard whom Green Bay showed interest in during the spring before he chose to attend a prep school.

First, welcome to Francis and Small! I certainly wasn't expecting both of these signings. I love the description of these guys, perfect for the style GB plays. Not sure if getting two guards is ideal but I will trust that the staff feels these guys are just too talented to pass up and they can figure out the roster balance later. I will say that I think GB needs to get at least one big guy in this class. I suppose there is always roster turnover so maybe they can still get two bigs. I know it is early but there are probably 3 or 4 guys on the roster who may be looking elsewhere if they don't receive a lot of clock this year.

Khalil Small has also signed with Green Bay. Welcome Khalil! I thought it was interesting that Khalil is going to Victory Rock Prep. I believe that was just started this year and is operated by Loren Jackson. Loren was at Boys to Men in Chicago and ING in Florida. If you recall GB tried hard to get Thinjin Moses from B2M and did get Tevin Findlay from IMG. Loren Jackson usually has connections to talented players, hopefully GB can continue to expand that relationship. With that said watching Findlay on Saturday, he has a lot of expanding of his game to do before he is ready to contribute on a regular basis. I do like his potential however and I see a good prospect for the Phoenix.

Occaisionally we see prep school players who join a D1 team at the semester break. Kowalczyk had that 2 years ago at Toledo when an IMG player joined at the break and redshirted for the remainder of the year. I wonder if Green Bay will do the same with Khalil Small? With a scholarship opening up with the graduation of Turner, this might be a good move for both Green Bay and Small.

I was hopeful that GB could find a big man transfer at the break. Someone who is better than what they could recruit out of HS now and would have either 3.5 or 2.5 years to play starting at the break next season. If such a player doesn't exist then brining in Small early and letting him get going on his development could be huge down the line.
