Not really related to Green Bay's recruiting but I was waling in to work this morning and I saw Jeff Capel, the assistant coach from Duke leaving the Marriott Hotel in downtown Milwaukee. It isn't every day I see someone that makes me think of college basketball. Not sure who is around but I would assume he was here for Looney or Stone.

Green Bay has offered Nigerian center Fred Iduwe. The 6'11" big man will prep this year at St. John's Northwest Military Academy. He played HS ball in Alabama.

I read online that Zach Braxton has committed to Weber State.
I watched some video on Iduwe, I like his size but he clearly has a long way to go in the skill department plus he doesn't seem that athletic. It wouldn't be a bad signing for GB, it is just that fans would have to understand that he isn't going to just come and fill the spot of Alec Brown.
Any other bigs that GB is after? I read the name of some guy from New Prague MN who has a lot of mid major offers including GB. It seems the rest of the names I read are guards.

GB would have time for Iduwe to develop with Mays and Lowe playing the post in 2014-15. Too bad about Braxton. When all that %$#! was coming down in spring Braxton's dad posted some very positive things about Wardle and the recruiting process with Green Bay. He sounded like a stand up guy that you would want to have your back in a fight

I read online that Germantown PG Lamonte Bearden committed to the University of Buffalo. I don't think that PG is a position of need for GB in the next few years with Sykes, Love, Findlay and Fulton around for the next 2 to 4 seasons. Yet I thought Bearden was pretty close to a "must get" for GB. He had good size and plenty of potential.
In my perfect world the 3 scholarships for next year would have gone to Bearden, DeBerry and Bunch. I can't say I know that much about Bunch but I did see a few videos and I see a fairly coordinated big man to grow into the center position after Brown and Mays have both graduated.
Thinking of DeBerry, any word on his status now that he is out east?

I think they need to get at least one post player in 2014. Any other names out there?
Also, online I don't see a lot of movement for DeBerry from other schools. Is GB still working on him and do they have a chance?

I looked at a video online, he looks like a decent athlete and has good size for a PG. His shot looks odd to me, in the video he is hitting it but I never like the guys that jump too far forward or turn in too much with their motion. Seems like his game would translate to the HL after a few years of practice. I am not sure if GB is still interested or vice versa but I like Jarvis Garrett. He seems like a closer version to Sykes than any of the other guys they are recruiting.

Baker committed to Albany. Is GB closing in on anyone?

I am hoping that Coach Wardle holds at least one scholarship. With the potential this team has, a top 25 ranking, or run in the NCAA Tournament is not out of the question.
If either of those things happened, the team could be in place to attract an ultra-talented late signing recruit. Those recruits are what helps a mid-major build of their success vs. making tourney runs once every 20 years.

Despite the BS last spring and early summer Wardle and staff were able to bring in some solid talent. The coach can afford to be more selective and patient because there is not a need in the 2014-15 for a massive influx of talent. I think we all understand the need for finding players who fit the culture.
Success in the coming season and a likely NBA player drafted of the Nix squad will send a powerful message to potential recruits.

Green Bay has offered Indiana's Daeshon Francis. He's a high-flying speedy 6-3 guard.

I like the fact that we still have a extra scholarship open. That shows me all are needs are filled and we can be picky. I remember some of the times when we panicked because of need and added a Tran or other JC that really didn't fit. I just want us to get a good player that fits! As far as I know I think only DT is still hurt? I would love to see him back but with torn ACL's to both knees over 2 years I find it hard to beleive he can ever help again. He will always be one of my favorite hustle players. I also think our bench is awesome on paper and we easly could go 7 or 8 deep. Right now I don't see any real projects.
