I think BW has found a niche in getting long-armed guys to play the ugly FG% style of defense he wants to play. Getting more shot-blockers will help this cause. My only concern is if we get that next center prospect, will we get someone who is one-dimensional and have no offensive game??

I read online last week that a lot of people around Buffalo think that Bobby Hurley would be a prime choice if Virginia Tech fires their coach. Today I read that Virginia Tech fired their coach after two years. As it relates to GB recruiting would that open things up again with Lamonte Bearden?

Today I read that Virginia Tech fired their coach after two years. As it relates to GB recruiting would that open things up again with Lamonte Bearden? I really like Bearden and I think he would be a good fit, but the Phoenix have already signed two guards for next year. I think they need another big with the remaining scholarship. I really like Heldt in 2015 but it seems he is looking for another opportunity. When will players start realizing that they would be better off with playing time at Green Bay rather than bench time at Wisconsin or Marquette?

I hope GB lands Arroyo Edwards. They need a solid, experienced SG for next season. GB will be more perimeter oriented, and also quicker. It will be interesting how next year's team takes shape.

Green Bay has offered Nigerian center Fred Iduwe. The 6'11" big man will prep this year at St. John's Northwest Military Academy. He played HS ball in Alabama. I read on twitter yesterday that Iduwe is an academic qualifier and that he is available. As a GB fan I took that to mean he is is looking for bigger opportunities because as far as I know GB is his only offer right now with other schools looking on.

Green Bay has extended a scholarship offer to F David Skara of Midwest Elite Prep Academy. MEP is in northwest Indiana. Skara is a highly skilled 6'8" forward originally from Croatia. He is an instinctive player who can shoot, handle the ball, and pass. MEP hosted St. John's Northwest Military academy last night. They won a match-up against St. John's earlier in the season. St. John's has several Phoenix targets. Skara now has offers from Valpo and Robert Morris. He visited Valpo and there is a connection from Valpo to his prep school on the coaching staff.

Brad Winton @jucorecruiting has reported that Arroyo Edwards 6-5/G/2014 has narrowed is list to five schools: Green Bay, WKU, UTSA, North Dakota and IPFW I read that Edwards has visits scheduled with WKU and UTSA. No word on a visit to GB. I also watched a long video of Edwards highlights. By no means does that make me an expert but in the video it showed him slashing and attacking the hoop a lot. He also took a lot of 3's but what is interesting is the majority came from someone else driving and kicking or someone passing ahead in transition. He didn't show the ability to create his own jumper which based on how he was driving I can understand. He also didn't show the ability to have a play run for him and have to catch and shoot on the move. So as it relates to fitting in with GB, his 35% shooting from deep would look ok given that I would expect his 3's to come from Sykes driving and kicking as well transition shots. I also think it would be good to have another guard who can get to and finish at the rim in the half court which is what looks to be the best part of his game.

Skara now has an offer from Virginia Tech now that Buzz Williams is there.
Edwards has removed GB from his list and is looking at North Dakota, W. Kentucky and UT San Antonio.
Iduwe is visiting Georgia and Memphis is interested.
Any word on Jack George? List of know names is getting smaller.

I think they need to get at least one post player in 2014. Any other names out there? Also, online I don't see a lot of movement for DeBerry from other schools. Is GB still working on him and do they have a chance? This is probably old news but DeBerry is going to Indian Hills CC. Maybe in a couple of years.

So far none of the GB players have indicated that they are not returning for next year. With that being the case GB only has one scholarship to give away. That scholarship will not be going to Fred Iduwe as he committed to Georgia. Also, Arroyo Edwards committed to UT San Antonio.
There is a 7'1" project from Illinois via the Sudan that Mark Miller tweeted about this weekend. Not sure what schools if any are interested, maybe he is a fit for GB? I don't want to say I am desperate for a big man but this has to be a top priority. Not necessarily for 2014-15 season but to have someone ready to play in 15-16.

From what I have heard UIC has come into the mix with George and either he parted ways with the Pheonix or the GB staff has dropped him as a possible target. FYI kid from Sudan cant walk and chew gum at the same time- MAJOR project.

I am more than a bit concerned about recruiting for 2014 and 2015. There are some really good local players in 2015 but I don't get the feeling Green Bay is in the running for any of them. Just a bit concerned that the coach is more concerned about his next job than his current job. Remains to be seen if we lose any players from the 2013/2014 team.

I remember the last time we got a player from the Sudan (Chop Tang).....all offensive possesions died once the ball got to him (usually in the form of a turnover or badly missed shot).
