Doug on the radio show or Doug as a guest on someone else's show is a persona. That is who he has to be to be on the air. Admittedly it's annoying that he is clowning around about Dan Patrick in the layup line. However, it is good TV and gets him on places he normally wouldn't. Doug today at the press conference came across as a different person than what we get on the air. The guy at the press conference was a little long winded but seemed honest and very committed to making this work. They have the momentum right now as a program. Every second is critical based on the timing to keep that momentum going. Every player commit or staff announcement will build on the next one. Let's see if his feet can keep up with his mouth to hit the ground running. I'm pulling for him. Yeah if you separate the persona from the man, you can tell he’s really speaking from the heart and is genuinely passionate about this. Worries that this is a side gig to his radio show are totally unfounded, in my opinion. This guy wants to be here, might not be for a super long time in reality (though he did claim he’s here for the long haul), but he wants to be here.

Yeah, and I guess I would feel better about this if he wasn't still going to be doing his radio show. I just don't know how a college basketball coach can adequately manage to be a coach, but then have sizable media commitments. Honestly, the radio show is what makes him intriguing. No coach has ever had a national radio audience to promote his team. I'm sure there's ways to exploit the NIL system through the radio show. If Doug succeeds, every major coach will be tasking their agent to get them a show.

How can anyone not be concerned that the basketball coach is not leaving his former job? I mean I hope he makes it work but the idea that he can just do this part time SHOULD worry anyone.

The radio show is one of the biggest assets the program has ever had and one most schools could ever dream of.

Are recruits going to flock to Green Bay because he has an afternoon radio show that no one under the age of 30 listens to? You guys are getting bamboolzed again.

IF the show generates NIL funds/opportunities, it should be pretty obvious how it will benefit the team. I don’t think anyone believes the players are going to choose GB simply because their coach is a radio host, it’s the connection to national sponsors/advertisers that could possibly take this team to the next level. Because unfortunately that’s where college basketball is today. And this is coming from someone who's still skeptical about the hire. But I do see the potential upside with Gottlieb as the coach.

Yeah they were going over mean tweets about him being hired. You kind of came up. And how like the Milwaukee and uwgb is living nd breathing. As it should be. Rivalry is a great way to drum up interest and engagement. It's not personal with me, I like most of you guys a lot. We're kindred spirits as die hard mid-major basketball fans. They saw the potential for that in the early 90's when Milwaukee wasn't even eligible for the tournament yet and they still got 8,000 people out to see the upstart play golden age Green Bay. Steering the conversation back to the topic of the thread, Gottlieb's show talked about those mean tweets because that's going to interest casual fans. They want to be entertained so let's do what we can to make it entertaining. Depends how far into the Big Dance we get

Coach sanders has coached at multiple schools where his defenses have been top defenses.
Former horizon league player rayqundis Mitchell at Kansas City and Brandon McCoy made him good defensively into a nba player. Pat Monaghan on the staff I don’t know but Doug Gottlieb has wanted defensive coaches he would make sense.

Feel like they would’ve been announced as back already. I get it from Pat’s perspective, why would you want to stay if they don’t think you’re THE guy?

On the team's web page, the coaching staff section of the roster has been updated, and it only includes Gottlieb and McCabe. It looks like you're right, and everyone else is gone.

There’s usually one assistant spot left?
Coach Gottlieb has talked most about adding defensive coaches?
