NY2LASports tweeted that Kenny Lowe will visit Green Bay next week. I'd bet Lowe will pick up a Green Bay offer on the visit if his other stuff is on track. With Alec Peters continuing to pick up more offers, I could see Green Bay deciding to move on. Lowe already has offers from New Mexico (Mountain West Conference) and San Jose St. (in its final year of the WAC before moving to the MWC). If he gets the GB offer, I'd also bet he commits quickly. How unigue would it be to have teammates from the same class committed to a local D1 school? Why am I so excited about this rather unknown prospect? Heres a highlight video of Lowe at the Dakota Mr. Basketball Showcase in July. Lowe lead the AAU event in scoring and took home the Championship and MVP. Watch that and tell me your not impressed.

Good video. It is edited to make him look like he killed those guys.
In my opinion based on the video I see a player who is athletic but not a super athlete. I see a guy who is coordinated. He wasn't that high or explosive on some plays but he timed them very well.
He played with a high energy level. He kept going and got things done because he was playing hard.
He had a good handle on the ball especially with his left hand. For a bigger guy who is right handed that is impressive.
His jackknife form on his jumper wasn't pretty but he did show some range on his shot.
Not sure where a guy his size fits on the near term roster with Fouse/McKinnie/Mays all having two more years by the time he would arrive. Yet I do see him as a guy who could play at GB. Plus he addresses the "need" for local players. Hopefully they get him locked up this week.

Just one question - Where are all these scholarships going to come from.
The numbers are not adding up.

I have been hoping Cole Stefan would take that last scholarship. I'm hoping Cole Stefan is healthy. Whether that includes a scholarship now rather than later is a different matter. The possibility that he might be 1 concussion away from retirement might give the coaching staff serious pause to giving him a scholarship without having him contribute first. It wouldn't surprise me if they give him a scholarship this year for 1 year only.

Mark Miller tweeted yesterday that Green Bay has indeed extended a scholarship offer to Little Chute's Kenneth Lowe, just like we expected. He also tweeted that Lowe was the breakout player of the senior class this summer. Hopefully we hear of a commitment soon.

Alec Peters has been named biggest stock riser in the Illinois Prep Bullseye summer awards. Seems everyone is impressed by both his shooting and toughness. Unfortuanately, the competition for him just got tougher, as he has now been offered a scholarship by Butler. Sounds like Butler is now backing off on recruiting Alec Peters

Any other year and it would have worked out for Cody and Green Bay. The best of luck to him except two or three times a season.

I've seen Wichman play numerous times. You'll hear about his shooting, but he also handles the ball well, is a great passer, and has a big armspan. Smooth lefty stroke. He'd average more PPG but Pulaski plays at a glaciers pace. Good kid from a good family.
I've seen Cody completely outplay North Dakota St recruit Brett VandenBerg. I'm surprised NDSU never offered. Wichman would be a good fit for the Summit League.
The negatives are he lacks quickness and explosiveness, and he hasn't been willing to work in the weight room. Green Bay never moved off their 4 for 5 offer because of this. That is no longer acceptable at Green Bay. Wardle instead offered the maniacally working Turner Botz, and are now pursuing his teammate Kenny Lowe. Lowe is a heavey Green Bay lean despite a pair of Mountain West Conference offers. Lowe has star potential.
Do I think Wichman is more talented than Botz? Yes, but it was Botz he got the full offer from GB because he won't ever be outworked. Both are great shooters, but Botz is willing to do the hard work too.
Mark Miller has seen both extensively, and ranks Botz higher. That said, there is considerable pressure now on Botz to prove that Wardle made the correct choice in choosing him.
Wichman fits Jeters system well. His lack of footspeed can be hid in Jeter's packed in defensive style, and his shooting fits Jeter's 3 point gunning offense. His willingness to pass fits the heavey ball movement offense.
I kind of feel bad for Wichman. He badly wanted a full offer from GB. He never got it and now heads to a program that's really going to struggle, and its coach will likely be fired before the end of Wichman's career.

I have only viewed Wichmann in bits and pieces. In my opinion I see a guy who reminds me of Brent Eaton or Riley Walker. Well at least in size and athletic ability. He might be a better shooter but Eaton was supposed to be a sharp shooter too. If he is at their level well that makes him a D2 prospect and it makes me happy he is at uwm.
I don't know much about Botz but I am thinking he is a 2/3 version of Daniel Turner. Turner works and plays hard, I expect Botz to do the same with better range.
The more I think about Lowe the more I want GB to lock him up.

I have never been a big fan of CW's game, as it projects to the D-1 mid-major level. While I have an affinity for pure shooters, I just don't think he is complete enough, and am glad it played out the way it did.
You have to question CW's comments in Rob's article. It was no secret that CW and his family really, really wanted to play at UWGB, and were holding out for the straight 4 year offer. It didn't come down to who recruited him the hardest (Rob should have pointed out that Wardle and his staff were at the De Pere game, along with Jeter, and Wardle attended many of his games)
I am curious GB BB: what game was that that CW out played Vandenberg? I don't recall that happening? Maybe a summer game?
I will say this: Dave Shaw is an outstanding coach and I really enjoy watching his teams play.

Just a caution about any comments about Wichman. Keep in mind there's a possibility this player goes back on the market this spring. If Milwaukee can afford to fire Jeter next spring, they will. Wichman would then have the option to re-open his recruiting.
Interest in UW-M basketball has never been worse. Stat-based projections have them in the RPI 200s, and their move to their on-campus gym has went over like a lead balloon. They are selling season tickket package for $99 a PAIR. Yes, you could get tickets for under $5 a game, yet they're still not selling. The constant off the court issues that symbolize the Jeter era do not go over well when combined with a losing team and a HS style gym. If they can afford to fire him, he'll be gone.
