Rob Demovsky weighs in on Doyle: Green Bay on short list for ex-Kansas recruitI agree with gbphoenix1 that I like our chances. I think it's advantageous that he wouldn't be alone in redshirting, and he already knows the player he'd be working out with side by side the whole season in Alphonso McKinnie. Also, if they get Doyle than that closes out the recruiting for 2013. Otherwise looking at the roster I would expect Humphrey, Muhammed or even Botz to be moving on if they still want to land Lowe.
I am probably way too far ahead of myself on this one. It wouldn't surprise me if Lowe spent a year at a prep school to improve his academic standing before enrolling at a 4 year school. If he did he'd fit perfectly into Green Bay's 2014 class.

Very unlikley botz would leave before he plays a game, I'd say almost no chance. Alec Brown would leave early to the NBA before Botz doesn't play one game in a Green Bay uniform. This is just a situation of Wardle wanting to bank a scholarship and a situation appears, that he has to act on. According to reports, Doyle would need to sit out anyways, so he would be a freshman with Botz. Nothing wrong with a 2 player class, and in 2 years adding a juco to graduate with them.
Anyone could leave based on not meeting their expectations as far as playing time. not really something we can speculate. In August we have no idea what the rotation will be in February.

Doyle is too good of a player to pass up. His athleticism and potential is off the charts.
FYI, on another subject I'm heading to Oregon this weekend and will take up permanent residence in Eugene and Otter Rock on the coast. That said I will always be TheTulsaWarrior.
Come November I'm think about heading down to Reno for that tournament the Nix will be playing in -- a chance to see three games in a weekend.

this is a 2012 recruiting thread
interesting that doyle picked loyola over us.
sounds like his mom played a role in the decision.
fouse as a freshman this year is expected compete to start this year and sykes and ceroni in the starting lineup, may have left our coaches unable to guarantee a starting spot, from day one.

Well I am disappointed to lose out on Doyle. In watching that video I saw a very skilled player who I think would have done very well at GB.
I don't think Loyola is going to be very good any time soon but they did get a pretty big building block in Doyle.
Also, when I was discussing the roster going forward I just looked at Humphrey, Botz and Muhammed as being the guys I expect to get the least playing time because they are at positions that GB has other alternatives. If Lowe goes to a prep school I think that really hurts GB's chances to land him.

I too am disappointed by the Doyle decision. I thought the fact that GB recognized his talent and offered him before his breakout senior year might eventually mean something to him, but in the end it didn't. The fact that Porter Moser has an abysmal record at multiple stops as a coach didn't bother Doyle either, but that's not surprising, as Milton also committed once to Isaiah Thomas. It's still good to see Doyle in the HL, the league needs this right now. However, I think GB really needs to pass on Doyle the next time he's back on the market

The way every coach tells me is this: with JUCO players, it's all about how they fit with the people on the roster and staff and how they like the town. With high school players, it's all about facilities - where they're going to stay, where they're going to eat, where they're going to spend most of their time (basketball facilities) and how far it is from home.
It's obviously not the same for every kid - you can actually learn a lot from recruiting in NCAA Football 13 if you're the video game type - but largely HS kids are wowed by facilities.
My guess is being in his hometown and being on a team where he could step in and be "the star" were big parts of his decision, as was the fact that Loyola's Gentile Arena is now the best "small" facility in the HL and the Norville Center vaults it to join the best of them in practice facilities.

A huge factor in recruiting is style of play. I'm sure Milwaukee coaches don't want to admit it, but their style of play kills their recruiting. Athletes don't want to walk, and well-rounded players don't want to ignore a major factor in the game(dribble penetration). I'm sure Jeter and company want to blame all their issues on the facilities, but they have more problems than that. Green Bay plays the ways talented, well rounded players want to play. That has helped the recruiting.
