Anyways, the reason I came is that Trivante Bloodman, who holds (or held) an offer from GB, is visiting Milwaukee this weekend. I think that might have changed with the Love commitment. Anyone know? I don't think that reported offer was ever real. It wouldn't make much sense for this staff to spend a lot of time recruiting a 2nd PG for next years sophomore class when we already have a budding superstar. Bloodman is too good to waste his talents backing uo Sykes for the next 3 years. Best of luck with him this weekend. I like your chances, he wants to start, and your starting PG job is wide open for the taking. He would be a solid addition to this conference.

Always good to see signing day go seamlessly. Here stories by Rob Demovsky and Andrew Gavin detailing Carrington Love's signing. He's a hard working, focused young man who could develop into a very solid ballplayer.

We do have Jordan Aaron committed, so starting PG isn't exactly wide open.

We do have Jordan Aaron committed, so starting PG isn't exactly wide open. He is more of a back-up type, Boga would start ahead of him. Aaron is a low effeciency scorer with a high turnover rate. His numbers won't translate well to the HL. He's not a strong fit for Jeter's offense. Who is else is visiting Milwaukee this weekend? Don't you have several roster spots to fill? Are you only looking at JuCo players?

Michael Orris, a former Phoenix recruiting target and teammate of Greg Mays, is back on the market with the coaching change at Illinois. With Weber moving to K-State, they're the new favorite, but according to this article, the Nix have been in contact just in case things don't work out that way. Orris would be a tremendous get for a Horizon League team.

blackpanther mike....milwaukee lone ncaa success has been with players that bruce pearl cheated to get....how u like that ! I think you're a sad, strange little man who is trying to pick a fight on a message board. Any intelligent Milwaukee fan knows what Pearl was. Although the only "cheating" done while he was here was in terms of secondary violations, which were reported and carried no penalty because secondary violations are committed by practically every program in the country. It can be as simple as going two minutes over the limit on a phone call with a recruit. The NCAA doesn't penalize for secondary violations until they start piling up to the point where you're talking about 25+ annually. I guess what I would point to is Schachtner and Tillema, two players that Pearl wanted badly and missed out on. If he was cheating so much, how come he didn't get those guys? Or other recruits he pursued that chose other schools? I don't think you'd suggest that Kowalczyk outcheated Pearl. The secondary violation you're referring to, the one where Tillema was at a barbecue at Pearl's house, is the same as the one that led to his ouster at Tennessee. But it wasn't the violation that got him out at UT. It was that, when caught, he lied about it like a little kid caught in some petty misdeed. Then it happened again. That's why he was fired. It was because he got caught and blatantly lied about it, not because of the violations committed. In the end, it doesn't matter. Everyone on this forum, including me, knows what kind of man Bruce Pearl is. The funny thing is, the lawless land of the SEC is the perfect place for a guy like Pearl. He probably could have committed far worse, primary violations at UT and kept his job as long as he admitted to wrongdoing when the NCAA investigated him. If you want to slam our program for Pearl's recruiting practices at Milwaukee, go ahead. Every violation Pearl committed at Milwaukee was documented and filed with the NCAA, and they didn't lift a finger to do anything. That's your prerogative if you want to focus on that, but the fact is those banners still hang in our gym, and they're never coming down. I don't feel the need to defend Bruce Pearl anymore. If you want to bash him, go ahead. He's a slick-haired snake oil salesman and a shyster. I'm focused on the current staff that started the same year at Milwaukee that I did.

Are you only looking at JuCo players? Jordan Aaron will undoubtedly be the starter in the fall. His numbers are somewhat skewed this year because his team only played 16 games and they had to lean more on him than usual because of injury problems. He's an engaging young man, intelligent and funny, and the players love him. As far as his play on the court, his game is like Chris Paul's. Obviously he's not Chris Paul, or even an NBA-caliber player, but his style of play is comparable. Come to think of it, his style resembles Ty Lawson a bit better. He's a scorer; he was much more efficient as a freshman than sophomore because of the aforementioned roster problems in a shortened season. The big difference between he and Kaylon Williams (apart from their demeanor), is that while Williams was most definitely the half-court, slow down point guard, Jordan Aaron is a little speed demon. The other player that Milwaukee hosted over the weekend was Matt Tiby, a player who is described as "Haarsma plus three inches." That sounds good to me, since the big knock on Haarsma that kept him from being a real dominant player was that he was forced to play the 5 for us last year, which matched him up against guys much bigger that he had major trouble defending (Brown, Holman, Smith, Van Wijk) and trouble scoring against. When I saw him this weekend, he was stronger and quicker than Haarsma and looked very good. I'm sure there's something that's holding back his game, since our main competition is South Dakota and UTSA, but it could be because he's from the middle of nowhere (Urbandale, Iowa? Do they even have a Wal-Mart?) a la Dylan Page. I'd be very excited for our future if we were to lock down Bloodman and Tiby. I think we'd still be on the outside looking in for a championship this upcoming season, but a top half finish seems very reachable should we pick up these recruits in addition to Austin Arians and Jordan Aaron.

First of all, lighten up, no one attacked you personally, so no need to once again resort to childish name-calling. Secondly, don't state "Pearls only violations were secondary violations" like that's fact. That is just your opinion, and in my opinion its an extremely naive one. Pearl was only caught for secondary violations because those are easiest to catch. Pearl was never going to be caught for anything more at Milwaukee, because that Athletics Department is completely unorganized with absolutely no oversight. It continues to be in complete disarray. Hope that changes when they soon hire yet another AD. With that aside, any updates Jimmy on Milwaukee's recruiting? With no commitments from this last weekends visitors, who is plan B?

Joe Henricksen details the now available Milton Doyle. The Phoenix don't presently have any major needs, but Doyle is too talented to pass on. He'd be a great addition, adding athleticism, versatility, and would give the Phoenix a potential perimeter defensive stopper. I'm hoping they can make it happen.

Here's an update from Illinois Prep Bulls-eye on a couple of former Nix targets that they could choose to pursue again. Michael Orris 6'2 PG Crete (Crete-Monee) Schools: Kansas State, Pittsburgh, Others Comments: Has reopened his recruitment after receiving his release from Illinois. Fierce competitor and leader who immediately becomes the top available point guard in the 2012 class from IL.
. Milton Doyle 6'4 WF Chicago (Marshall) Schools: Open Comments: Just received his release from Florida International after the firing of Isiah Thomas. A stellar athlete who was among top 5 players in Chicago Public League based on performance this past season. Excels at slashing and has a tremendous mid-range game.

Mark Miller just tweeted that the Phoenix have recently extended an offer to Jeremiah Jones of St Johns Northwest Military Academy Prep.
I mentioned Jones on the old board as someone I could see them having interest. Jones had quality offers out of HS, but chose the prep school route to get him back to his original class. He skipped a grade early in his schooling, and is the age of this years HS senior class. He is a 6'3" sharpshooting wing.

edit: GB beat me by 1 minute haha Mark Miller tweets that Green Bay has offered Jeremiah Jones from St Johns Military Academy. He is 6-3, 185lbs and originally from Merrillville, Indiana. According to this article he turned down a bunch of offers to play at SJNMA. Here is the quote: The talented shooting guard turned down offers from Indiana State, Northern Illinois, Valparaiso, Cleveland State, the College of Charleston and Virginia Commonwealth for only one reason. And Jones hopes playing prep school hoops in Milwaukee for one year will make it all happen.
"I want to play in the Big Ten," he said. "This will help me get back to my class, grow and mature physically. I think I can play at the Big Ten level, (but) I need to develop my game a little more."

Mark also tweeted that Nebraska is showing strong interest in Jones. I wonder if that would count as playing in the Big Ten?

Does the fact that they are still offering players for 2012 give us some insight regarding Stefan's health?
