UWGB extends his contract for 2 more years. Through the 2021/2022 season.
This shouldn't be a surprise after going to the Dance his 1st year. Also TV2 said other schools were looking at him after the NCAA Tourney.

I personally know of two schools that were interested in him with their openings (none were HL to my knowledge). I'm sure there were more.
This extension is a no-brainer. The guy took someone else's team to the Tournament for the first time in 20 years. You extend that guy.
I would be surprised if he makes it here all the way to 2022. If he does, that's not exactly the best sign - GB can't pay to keep other mid-majors away, so if he's here in 2022 it's because no one thought he was good enough to give him their job at the mid-major or high-major level.
Enjoy #RP40 while you can - Darner is a heck of a coach, and things look really bright in Brown County. Also continue to enjoy our five-alarm dumpster fire. It's only going to get more entertaining from here.

Lets make a deal we won't PI@#! in your campfire and please don't P%$#! in ours. The Panthers will be fine and for the record K, Wardle and Darner have all improved the fortunes of Green Bay Basketball. I expect the trend to continue.

I didn't realize what I said was a negative on GB. Isn't it quite obvious that your program continues trending upwards? Sent from my SCH-R970 using proboards

Sent from my SCH-R970 using proboards You are not being negative, just bringing up a sensitive topic in how long Linc will be in GB. I know for sure his extension is a reward for a great season and to help keep him from looking at any remaining openings now or potentially in the future. The department seems committed to raising the bar in GB and making this a bit more than a stepping stone. It may never happen but they have aspirations and more importantly are executing on plans to make it happen.

I don't want to rip on UWM so much. The rivalry is better when both programs are on an even keel. The rivalry was great in the late Bruce Pearl/early to mid TK era.......TK sniping at Pearl, Pearl sniping at TK, TK sniping at UWM Assistant Tony Jones, and vice versa......and there were some great games between the 2 to go with the smack talk.
If this team goes to multiple NCAA's, Linc will eventually go. It is what it is when you have a good mid-major coach. TK and BW did less and eventually left to higher paychecks and more support. MEG is trying to narrow that gap, but we also can't compete with a good A-10, MVC, or MWC team that knocks on the door.

I had been wondering about Darner's family. Difficult situation and a difficult decision for the family. It is actually not that unusual for someone who relocates for a job to allow kids to finish high school. I relocated across the country at one time but fortunately my kids were in grade school.

Very odd time to do this interview with the team in a free fall
Would have made more sense do this after the valpo win

That interview was recorded after the Valpo win but before the road trip. It wasn't aired until later.
The Darner family situation is unusual to say the least. His daughter is a big hoops fan. If he finishes strong this year perhaps he makes a run at the South Florida job and gets closer to home.

Don't know her skill level but maybe she will be a great fit for a Women GB who has had plenty of basketball success... Just Maybe...

I am firmly in the Linc can stay in GB for decades and I will be happy camp. I am also in the jaded view of life camp and don't expect anyone to ever be that loyal if something more desirable comes up for their family (location, money etc). Either way it is a tough and unusual situation. When I am away from my family for more than a few days it doesn't feel right for me, I couldn't imagine how he does it.

Just based on his job history, he clearly seems to be committed to reaching higher levels in his career. The question is, where does he see his plateau? Is GB the pinnacle? Is GB a stepping stone? Also based on his job history, he seems to remain loyal to programs for at least a certain period of time. I think he will be here for several more years, but if we make more tourney runs and say either USF or Pitt come calling (as they were rumored to), then I can't say I'd be surprised if he left. Personally, I hope the guy stays here for the duration. He seems like a very level-headed guy who can recruit well and is fully devoted to the program. I'm not as pessimistic, I think he will be here for the long haul.

The only way I see Green Bay as a destination would be for a coach nearing the end of his career. The only thing that would prevent Darner from moving on after a good year this year would be the right opportunity does not present itself. Higher better paying schools may want to wait another year or two to see how he performs with his own recruits. I for one hope he is here for at least several more years.
