With one game down, and the next one on the schedule being the big one a week away, I suppose we could start talking about the game. Will definitely be an interesting matchup. I feel that GB will fare well in the post, will be interesting to see who will guard Dekker, I assume Fouse. I don't think that Al McKinnie will be back in time, but that could be a huge addition.

I watched parts of the Badgers win over St John's. I thought UW was out matched athletically but that SJU didn't play with a lot of focus, effort and execution. I think GB should have an athletic advantage as well but will need a more passionate effort than SJU had. UW made a ton of 3's, need to slow that down. They had a lot of guard rebounds, need our guys to take that away. Hard to tell, should GB go small to match Fouse on Dekker and Garrett on Gasser...can we still defend and rebound like playing with Mays? I like the comment from Keifer about getting up shots and tracking them down for easy putbacks, I don't want to lose that. I like how the GB bigs get a board and then turn and go. Waiting to find a guard will allow UW to set up in the half court on d, just need to make sure the bigs are not out of control. I dont want Al to rush back, he is a matchup problem for UW but he could restup until Alaska and only miss 3 games in total. What's more important trying to beat UW or having him all year as a mismatch?

The Badgers want to slow GB done. Athleticism and size on the preimeter could be a trump card for the Nix. I don't think the Badgers have anyone who can guard Sykes. The new hand check rules will make guarding Sykes more difficult. It may come down to game management.

If we play small against them who starts for Mays? Carrington? We can either go with Keifer, C-Love, Garrett, Fouse, AB to run with them or Keifer, Vince, Fouse, Mays/Al McKinnie, AB and just out match them physically. UW is going to try and slow the game down, so I almost think BW should start a big lineup and just out play them in the post. Especially if Al McKinnie is back, we hold the advantage with the bigs. I'm not sure if it's just me, but I feel that as long as we can contain Dekker from going off, we should win this game. And if AB and Keif are hitting outside shots, it might not even be close.

It's been 11 years since Wisconsin last won in Green Bay.
Congrats to the Badgers on their big win over #10 Florida.

Wasn't Wisconsin coming off a big win maybe over Duke before they came to Green Bay the last time?

Any word on McKinnie playing? I am sure they are keeping it close to the chest either way but curious if any rumors are out there?

In my mind I see an upset win for GB. I see all of the things that I know GB does better than UW and none of the things that they don't:)
I am hopeful that the GB length and potential zone defense really slows down UW's 3 point game. I am hopeful that the size and athletic ability minimize UW's guard rebounding. I hopeful that controlling the glass and the quick outlets that come from it allow GB to play their quick tempo. I know it is easier typed than done, but if GB can do those 3 things well I can see a win. So know that I am excited I should start to prepare for the opposite.
Also, I believe the spread is 5 points so at the least I can hope for a close game if the odds makers are right!

I couldn't believe the spread is that close, I figured it would be 8 or so, even though I think GB will win. Figured the line would a little more.

Super psyched for tonights match-up. When you only get a shot at Wisconsin on the home floor once every 5 years, it adds a real sense of urgency to the game. The series with the Badgers ends after tonight, who nows when Wisconsin will be back.
It stinks that Green Bay will likely be without a starter, as Alfonzo Mckinnie is unlikely to be back. That really subtracts from our overwhelming size and athletism.
Wisconsin is a tough foe. Their starting 5 can really shoot the 3. As usual, they have a ton of experience. I find it funny that Badger fans and the media are calling this year Badger team young. Their 8 man rotation includes 3-4th year players and 3-3rd year players. They have 2 4th year players who didn't make the rotation. In what alternate unniverse is that a young team?
Florida was pitiful on converting fast break opportunities. They wouldn't throw the lob. Green Bay will. GB needs to mix it up defensively, and contest shots at the 3 point line, to get the misses needed to start the fast break. Greg Mays and Kenneth Lowe will need to bully talented but soft Sam Dekker. Brown needs to exploit his speed advantage over Frank Kamminsky. Mays will also need to win battles against big Frank. The 2 were AAU teammates, and Mays was the starter. GB can't have unforced turnovers, need to get shots up and then get on the glass.

It looks like Wisconsin back-up PG George Marshall will miss the game due to a concussion suffered in practice. Out of HS, Marshall was a much higher rated prospect than felow Chicagoan Keifer Sykes. Sykes, under the tutelage of Wardle and staff, has developed into one of the top PGs in the nation, while Marshall has failed to develop under Bo Ryan. Stinks we don't get to see these 2 go head to head. We'll now see some of Freshman Bronson Koenig, best of luck to him trying to defend Sykes. Koenig is a masterful passer, but has marginal quickness for a D1 PG.

Wasn't Wisconsin coming off a big win maybe over Duke before they came to Green Bay the last time? You are correct. The stage is set for a trap game. The game has been completely sold out for weeks. Lots of new GB fans in the area simply because of the addition of the Little Chute duo. Stat guru Ken Pomroy is predicting a close one. You can bet the godfather of Green Bay basketball, Dick Bennett, will be in attendance. 11 months before Bo Ryan took over at Wisconsin, Dick had Wisconsin in the Final 4. Despite that Bo inherited committed prospects including Devin Harris and Alando Tucker, they've never been back. Scott Venci tweeted that there will be dozens of NBA scouts in attendance. Go Phoenix!!

Always a great intra-state rivalry between these two programs, sorry to see it end. While I expect (and hope) Wisconsin wins this game, I always root for the Phoenix to do well in the Horizon League and the NCAA Tournament. Best of luck tonight, this one should be fun!
On, Wisconsin!

Kind of disappointed, it was a game that could have gone either way. Refeeing was very good until the last few minutes. They let the players play but then made some questionable calls and changed a big call with a minute + left. If there was 17 NBA scouts there KS will be a 1st round pick. He played a great game and showed everyone he could control a game with out being 6' tall. I'm proud of the game both teams played. AB tried to hard and was a train wreck. I was worried about our bigs for next year but not anymore. Missed layups probably were the difference in winning. AB had 2 points and 5 TO's. I think GB could play in the Big Ten this year and be competitive. I look forward to watching all season and into the playoffs. I also could see GB rated this year if they play like this every night. Last but not least Love has to learn to pass the ball on a breakaway. I think 2 times he went to the bucket when he had a trailer who was wide open results 2 misses. Enough said it was a great game but learn from your mistakes and it will be a greater season. Kiefer Sykes showed he is one of the best to ever play at Green Bay. The three best to ever play for the Nix -- Bennett, Nordgaard and Sykes.
I think somehow Alec Brown was totally psyched out of his game last night. Was it trying too hard...thinking about the NBA scouts/first round draft talk or just bad Saturday Karma? He can learn from the experience.
A couple more games under the belt before facing the Badgers would have done a world of good for team play. Lowe was a steal of a recruit. Added strength and conditioning and watch out.
I hope GB proved something to the fans and the community supports this special team.
