That is an interesting quote. The beginning of his GB career started with a pot smoking suspension. Apparently that what he wanted to do and needed to do to reach his potential. Best of luck to him in his search for "higher" learning. The coaches avoided giving him a scholarship until the season started and there was one left over. Once we saw him on the court, we saw why. He seemed to have gotten too bulky, and that seemed to hinder both his shot and quickness. Next man in.

I agree hoops, there are lots of ways to read into those comments....the one thing that does stick out to me is the 5 kids leaving in a short amount of time and also the number of guards that have left the program in the last 12-16 months. It is hard to build a program with out 3 point shooters in todays game and maybe there is an underlying reason for these guys leaving. With that said, seems like Wardle has restocked with some 6-4, 6-5 sharp shooters.

Very interesting. I was excited to see what he was bringing to the team at first, but he seemed to disappoint. This is probably best. Guess it means Findlay will start, maybe Love to start the year and eventually Findlay. Just hope BW can get a transfer who can shoot the three ball to fill this scholarship.

GB still has a solid group of players coming back. The exodus of the other players may be the best thing that could happen for the program. Wardle can do some soul searching and this should give the team a clean slate. It's up to the coach and players to make the most of it. There was a growing cancer on the team. We can disagree on the source. This coming season we'll find out if the situation has been cured.
The help wanted sign is out for a three point shooter who will have the chance to play immediately.

Shooting the J
Your a prick for saying stuff lke that.....you know that if the kid was still smoking pot he wouldn't be on the team. They are all tested on a regular basis, especially if it is an issue with a certain player.
By the way, how does someone find out about that when a kids privacy is supposed to be upheld?
By the way shooting the J, tell the truth about Greg Mayes then.....you seem to know an awful lot.
INTERESTING TO SAY THE LEAST.....

It's funny how when the real truth comes out now its you that wants to kill the messenger. Karma is a great thing my friend. As for his privacy, the leak came from his side, and I've heard this rumor multiple times.

Yes Karma is a great thing my friend.....
Leaks don't come from "his side" when "his side" tries to protect the kid.
By the way, who's side are you on?

tulsawarrior, kudos for taking an optimistic opinion in your post. It might in fact be best that some of these guys move on.
Generally, though, the way to build a strong program at a mid-major might not be to have five guys leave in one year, and 10 or 12 or 13 in three years. Kentucky yes, GB probably not.
The other thing, it could bite you in the end because of the stricter NCAA rules for graduation rates. That's why TK's Toledo team was barred from the MAC tournament this year (and any NCAA/NIT/CIB/CTA/XYZ play) even though they had a pretty good year. And if you turn loose so many players and have to rely on other schools to graduate them, because the clock keeps ticking down on you no matter where the players go or what they do, that's pretty risky. At least if they stay with your program, you can make sure they graduate even if they don't pan out as players.

The Greg Mays suspension was released in the Press Gazette by Rob D. so that it was on display for everyone to see. In addition it was the headline over Alec Brown returning to Green Bay for his senior season.
Am I concerned with all of the players leaving, yes I am and think everyone is. The reason is not always the player and I hope Coach Wardle and his staff works hard to improve this for next season.

Leaks don't come from "his side" when "his side" tries to protect the kid. By the way, who's side are you on? Kid? What kid? Cole is an adult and has been one for years. Also, not sure how absolving someone from accountability protects them. What side am I on? Simple, I'm on the side of truth. In a continuing theme, you seem to favor excuse making.

I'm trying to remain optimistic throughout this. My first loyalty is to the school. If you have lemons make lemonade. The players leaving shows a problem and it could come back to bite the Nix or show a deeper remaining underlying issue. With Brown, Fouse, Sykes, Mays and McKinnie available you have five potential all conference players. Green Bay will need outside shooting and a coach who can bring the entire group together. If things fall apart we'll know where the problem was and is.

I for one am disappointed by this news. I didn't see Cole for the player he was last season but rather the player he could be. I would agree he looked a little bulky and slow at times. However, I also saw a guy who was willing to take his shots, could make shots and was also was willing to put the ball on the floor and go to the hoop. He didn't always have a lot of success but I thought as he got used to the game speed and not having to split time with two other guys he would start to flourish. With a transfer under his belt his next step is probably D2 or NAIA. I assume he will do very well at those levels.
The timing seems odd with the semester already being over and then Harris just being on campus. Can anyone say for certain if this was Cole's decision or was he pushed out to make room for new players? Either way I assume this clears the way for Tre Harris or Vincent Garrett to join the team, maybe even both. I will be curious to see if they get either and if either has an impact. Certainly the lack of outside shooting is going to be an issue on paper for this team.
In the end I hate the revolving door. No matter what the reason, even if it is just role players, it feels like a lot of starting over every year in GB. As a fan I am tired of starting over. I hope the fresh start works about for both Cole and GB, I have my doubts right now.

The sign in front of the Kress Center says "Shooting guards wanted, experience preferred, but not necessary.....Will pay for tuition, books, room, and board for 2013-2014"
It seems that we can't keep shooting guards on this roster. We have Tevin Findlay and that's about it.
Can Turner Botz play the 2?? Do we know if Vince Garrett, Tre Harris, or Zack Braxton have made a decision?? With the 2 open scholarships left, I'd like to see Garrett for his experience and either Harris or Braxton.
