Green Bay (11-10) @ UIC (13-8) 7:00 Thursday TV: Time Warner Sports 32 Huge game against an up and down opponent that appears to be getting hot again. UIC isn't just up and down game to game, but half to half. They're coming off a huge win @ Wright St. Awesome that this is on TV. Should be a good one tonight. Rob Demovsky's preview and story: Brown standing tall again for PhoenixHaving the real Alec Brown back has been awesome, his presence in the paint defensively has made Green Bay the top defensive team in the conference.

UIC has a good home record. They seem to be playing better again. They like to shoot 3's and the GB zone will give them some looks. This is going to be a tough game to win.
I love that it is on tv. Hopefully Keifer and Greg have a similar home coming to last year. I would love to see Kam/Cole/Cougs make some 3 pointers. I don't think UIC has anyone that can slow down a motivated Alec Brown and Brennan Cougill, GB needs to ride those guys to a win.

I wasn't planning on watching TV tonight but I had wanted to go to one of the road games to see why they struggle. This should be a great game with 2 teams on the up swing. Both teams have had their struggles but I like our chances with the BIG men coming through at the end of the game.

I love what Daniel Turner means to this team and all the leadership and intangibles he brings, but its time to take him out of the starting line-up. He's clearly not at 100%. Put Greg Mays back in the starting line-up. We need the hustle, energy, and athleticism that he brings

Same old story. Tons of careless turnovers on the road.
Daniel Turner brings nothing to this team on the court. Figure it out Wardle.

Just when we start to get some momentum, we crap our collective (and metaphoric) pants on the road. The fans get teased again.....
I agree about Dan Turner.....We need our best 5 out there, whether Cougs or Greg starts at forward doesn't matter, but Dan Turner is not doing much of anything as he's still not completely healthy.
What can't we @#^&$%#@ win on the road?? I have to think between the TK days and now with BW, there has to be an issue of mental preparation, whether something is being done or not done by the coaching staff. Average HL teams are pulling more wins on the road than GB....what are we doing wrong or what AREN'T we doing at all to help the cause?
It's maddening!!

Frustrating way to end the game. They had Brown open in the post, and had the ball in the hands of there best passer, Fouse. For reasons unknown he didn't throw it in. Fouse had the clean block at the other end too, but the ref missed it and put Crittle on the line for the go-ahead points.
I've said it before, but they need to get something out of the SG position on the road. That didn't happen again tonight.
I also echo the statements of others regarding DT. Great kid, but he has no business on the floor. He got us killed in this one. The team played very well when he wasn't on the floor, but had to dig out of big deficits both halves.
Great to see Greg Mays get back in the flow tonight. Also, the team defended well enough to win. Best defensive Nix team in a long time.

Turnover-plagued Green Bay can't finish off UICWhen you hold a team to 42% shooting and hit 49% yourself, you win, unless you turn it over 16 times. UIC has a solid team this year, but they will be starting over again next year. Seniors played 120 of their 200 minutes tonight. Only 2 of their underclassmen scored. Every player who scored for UIC is a transfer.

This is the quote of the day, "When you hold a team to 42% shooting and hit 49% yourself, you win, unless you turn it over 16 times."

Yes it is, we have turnovers at home but they increase everytime we go on the road. At times it got so hard to watch I had to turn the channel. I always came back but coudn't watch at times. Simply put another road game we should have won!!!!!!!

One of my favorite DB quotes keeps ringing through my head when I watch the defensive fundamentals of this team:
"The bench is a great motivator"

At least complain about the right things, in this case the lack of offense (or turning it over).

Well there were some positives to this game: UIC has a good home record and GB played them close.
GB was down double digits and did rally to take the lead.
While they didn't get to the line a lot they did make a high percentage of their shots.
Mays was rolling again, hopefully enough to start on Saturday.
Brown was quiet but he did 3 things that are unlike him. First, he nailed a clutch 3 when he didn't have anything going offensively all game. Second, when Crittle ran him over he got right up and initiated contact which led to Crittle losing his cool and getting the F1 foul. Plus at the end he was bumping with Crittle on the last UIC inbounds play. He finally is getting a tough streak going. Third, when Jordan didn't pass him the ball on his dive to the post he went right over and said something. It didn't come across negative but it came across as a guy who really does believe in himself and really believed he could win the game. That isn't the softy from the past.
I know it goes without saying but the turnovers are out of control again, very hard to watch.
The 4 guards not named Sykes didn't do much of anything. I personally would not have played Love so much. He is so limited offensively and combined with Jordan a half court game is tough for the Phoenix. I don't know what Su did to get benched early but I would have played him or Cole. Both guys can get shots up in the half court and space the court. Cole had 3 shots I thought were down and a layup that he might have been fouled on. Plus he had 2 assists and hit Kam in the hands for what should have been a 3 but Kam dropped it. I know it is a bottom line business but I thought Cole earned more clock and I am hopeful he actually starts to execute because of it.
Losing sucks but UIC is good at home this year. To play them close makes me think GB can play a similar game and maybe beat the 3 other conference road opponents.

I lived in the Twin Cities for the past several years, and watched more high school basketball there than college, not being a Gopher fan. One of the players I respected and loved watching in his high school days was Cole Stefan. Too bad the GB fans havent' had a chance to see one of the purest shooters in college basketball get to play to much. I know he transferred and had to sit out a year, but seriously - why don't they play him?? He may not be making his shots - yet - but believe me he can. He did good as a freshman at LaSalle and he was the best high school shooter in Minnesota for years. I have been impressed with Muhammed too, and we are being deprived of watching him play too. I really want to be a UWGB fan but this coach is making it hard.
