Santora is interesting. Long wing player, lots of high major offers a year ago. Fits a 5 out offense. He should have some fun in the Horizon League.

No real stats to speak of his freshman year, but you can overlook that considering he was playing for a good Big East team that got several wins over top 25 teams. That’s a tough lineup to crack. Definitely a higher upside option that could gain some confidence and be a difference maker at the mid-major level. I’d be happy with a couple more players with this kind of background.

Ed Cooley recruited him and says he can play the the 2, 3 and 4 position. In the Horizon he'll pretty much be a front court player with range out to the three point line. He's older than the average sophomore because he played at a solid prep school program out of high school.

Well it shows that DG's connections work at some level. He is from SoCal and is coming to GB with limited time to have visited.
He has great length for his position and is apparently a good shooter.
I'm pretty optimistic that Santoro will fit in nicely with how DG wants to play. Getting P5 guys is hard, especially with no regional reason to come here. Welcome to GB, I'm very intrigued by what he can do.

No analysis or anything on my part here, but I will say "transfer from Providence" sounds pretty cool IMO

A team can never have too many athletic wings, that was one of my biggest gripes last year was that the team had rec league level athleticism, this is a good step in the right direction to fix that.

Ice emery commited to western Carolina. Sad. If you watched the Kyle Malzahn interview.
He said he has wanted to be a Phoenix since he was a kid.

Yeah it sucks Wicks left but he could have stayed here for a year if he wanted to play here that badly. This is a huge step down for him imo. He must really not like Gottlieb to make this move….

I don’t see why it would be a step down for him. I know little about Western Carolina, but they went 22-10 while playing in a conference with a net ranking significantly higher than the Horizon League.

WCU has a new coach as well. Seems odd to me, but who knows if he was connected already to someone on their staff or if NIL came into play here.

Tim Craft is the guy who had Gardner-Webb in the NCAA Tournament not that long ago. He has already been a Division I head coach. I'm only speculating but my guess is Ice Emery wasn't comfortable playing for someone whose coaching ability is a complete unknown. I've listened to Gottlieb for 20 years. He knows ball. I would not be surprised if he turned out to be a solid head coach immediately. But a lot of these kids have designs on playing after college as well, and WCU only has three guards on the roster and they're all freshmen. Looking at their staff, they're Carolina heavy. So it's probably more about starting opportunity for a known quantity at head coach. Again, just my speculation.

The GB coaching staff sofar looks pretty solid in terms of skill development, Sanders has had a number of D1 stops and is known as a strong front court coach. He had a heck of a playing career at San Diego State as an undersized post. McCabe is a backcourt legend in Wisconsin and his skills videos get a lot of traffic. You're right about questions regarding Gottlieb's in game coaching chops. He was a high major point guard, but has not done game management on a single D1 game. He said he's hiring a veteran JUCO coach who has extensive experience winning several titles along the way. We will see. Gottlieb and Company still need to fill out the roster -- the quality of the additions will go a long way in determining success.

He had an 82 year old guest on his show yesterday asking him to call him because he has a lead on an assistant coach from the West Coast.
