I am genuinely curious how you think Josh Moon has anything to do with the current mess that we are in? Moon didn't hire Will, you're absolutely correct about that. That was never in question. I'm saying that those that surround him clearly do not have any sort of sound mind, and if it took him this long to see that the bottom was falling out, there could be an issue on his end, too. Is Josh going to have proper instincts in this next hire, or is he going to be deferential since he has only been here for roughly 18 months and his job probably hinges, at least somewhat, on the next hire? Are you criticizing him for not firing him earlier? I don't think there was any way Ryan was going to be fired after two seasons.

Is Yay Skip Bayless in disguise? Says the most ridiculous stuff.
Yeah it’s Moon’s fault for not firing the head coach in day one of him being hired.

SMH I never said Moon needed to clean house the millisecond he signed on the dotted line. The rot has been there and this is merely the first thing he’s done to even show he has the balls to turn this thing around. I’m everyone’s favorite punching bag on here, but more often than not, what I say comes to fruition in some sense, and I actually know reliable people to have more insight than some random dude at the Resch. By all means, keep swinging away, I’ll still be here buying tickets and supporting the team, even if I’m hypercritical.

To the points against or for Moon, he didn’t hire Will and therefore has zero responsibility on that end. Chancellor Alexander does however…And he’s the same one who went forward with firing Darner in a pandemic after a 3rd place finish. Everyone has their Darner opinions and that’s fine, but most would agree the timing of his firing didn’t make sense. It’s hard to trust the University leadership in this process, which is also why they are going with Parker to lead the search. Smart move. Hard to defend Ryan after how bad they have been, but what did Moon or Alexander do to help him??? Inherited a team upset their HC was fired. In a pandemic. Couldn’t recruit in person. Couldn’t meet donors or alumni. No fans at games. Kamari McGee goes to Wisconsin. The list goes on. I completely understand him getting let go now, the results just weren’t there and the immediate future doesn’t look promising. But this whole situation has a lot of blame to go around. It’s not all on the HC. And the guy who initiated all of it is the same Chancellor who just did this. Ryan was at least a good person, wanted to do well, cares about this region and state. He doesn’t deserve to get dragged this bad just for not winning games. Some of Moons recent interviews have not been kind. Not like he committed a felony. Sad it didn’t work out, but I’m still worried this admin and university can turn it around given prior decisions.

A chancellor on the job for the sum total of three weeks when Darner got shown the door. So either he made the decision himself or allowed his AD to talk him into going along with it.

Alexander has some responsibility here, but some of the comments are a little over the top. "Rot from the top?" He was clearly doing what his AD at the time suggested. He accepted that recommendation to both fire Darner and hire Ryan. It was ill fated all around. But I agree that hiring the search firm was a good idea. But ultimately this will be a decision made by Alexander based heavily, if not completely, on Moon's recommendation. An extremely important one for both of them. Hopefully they make the right one.

Having dealt with some pretty difficult personnel issues as a manager I can tell you some parts of a story are not for general public consumption. There are legal and ethical matters to consider. In most cases both sides want to keep issues out of the media and out of the courts.
It's not fair to speculate on social media, but it happens. There's a lot of stuff that might be read between the lines that we will never know.
Years ago I covered two stories about well known coaches. Both had a career tumble from high major schools to small colleges. There was a drinking problem in both cases. Look at the mess at Texas with the domestic abuse allegations against the former basketball coach.
I'm not saying this is what happened at GB this time or the last, just that there are factors not for public consumption. Whether it is a personal matter or a bad record -- sometimes the healthiest and cheapest way to solve the problem is to end the relationship.

I saw some one throw John Tharp's name out there and that could be a homerun hire. Has shown success at every level he has coached, most recently at Hillsdale College (D2). Has been to the sweet 16 (2 years ago), elite 8 (last year), and ranked as high as 4th in the nation (this year). He has shown the ability to recruit Wisconsin heavily and the surrounding states which is crucial to our success. He could keep the top tier talent in the state here and could possibly retain Patrick Cartier from Colorado St who was a D2 All-American for Hillsdale last year.

I remember Tharp from his days at Lawrence. He's a good coach, but he has his niche at finding and developing talent to win at academically-focused liberal arts type colleges. Like the guy at Yeshiva, undoubtedly good at coaching basketball, but I am not sure that experience translates well to D1.

The Press-Gazette listing Doug Gottlieb as a potential candidate. That's really embarrassing, even for them.

Might as well interview Ernie Johnson then, too, if they’re going to look at just anyone born in Milwaukee "...doesn't have much coaching experience but would have interest in leading the Phoenix." Until told otherwise this interest appears to be one sided and not from the Nix. I get that GB has done some things that haven't exactly instilled confidence in everyone but in this case it doesn't appear to be GB doing the outreach. I will echo the sentiment here though, he should not be a candidate.
