My intramural team could beat the Phoenix. Excuse me, I'm going to go puke now...

Down 29 in the first half to what was a very weak G Tech team last year. Not a good omen for the future of the program.

I didn't see the first half thank God.
Well let's just say this, the new style of the program is almost the opposite of what it had been and right now it's like fitting a bunch of square pegs into round holes. I expected some decline from last year, but the decline might be greater than I thought.

Georgia Tech shot 72% in the first half...good mix of wide open threes and layups. Linc may not have a voice after this game after three straight games of yelling at his guys to get back on defense.

The 2nd half was a little bit better, but wow another humiliating defensive performance.
That's a bad Georgia Tech team too.

New style of play looks like it will take a while to get going. Players looked outmatched across the board. This may make recruiting harder. I think this is going to be a long season.

Perhaps the only solace is that only the conference games are going to matter this year

Georgia Tech will be the best team they play all year. They had a lot of returning players with some very good transfers coming in. Don't forget, Green Bay played in Palo Alto, CA on Friday, traveled all day Thursday and Saturday. Practiced at 7 am on Sunday and 6 am Monday to prepare for a 6am game on Tuesday and then traveled on Tuesday afternoon. They had one day to prepare for a team that will be good in the ACC and knew GB would be dead (the reason they pressed the first 10 mins) of the game. They should have won the Stanford game, could have won ETSU and got beat bad tonight. This is the last time they play 3 teams this good in a row all year and the last time they have a brutal schedule like this the rest of the year. The staff knew it would be a brutal start but it will pay dividends later. On top of the brutal schedule to begin, the team is not used to playing up and down like this. You could see it tonight, dead in the 1st half. The lone bright spot was that the bench played well. This won't hurt recruiting at all, players want to play up and down and they will see they will get immediate pt if they can play.

Hey Tevin was a bright spot, he moved the ball around and made a few hoops. Plus Avery nailed a bunch of jumpers and showed off his hops on a few boards. Other than that I can't think of much else that was positive.
I don't like piling on but I think it has to be asked. Despite Bill Scott and Joey Daniels pushing Turner Botz as a green light player who is finally receiving confidence from is coach, he doesn't seem to be contributing in any particular way. Are we entering the Turner Botz is officially not a D1 player window?
Also, with the way GTech was scoring and rebounding in the post I though Hendo should have played more. He is the only guy GB has that could match up size wise. Lowe got bullied, Kanter was nailed to the ground and the soft double team never worked. Hendo guarded two post shots. One he had his body into the shooter with high hands but gave up a tough score. The other was the same and was a miss. Then he got pulled out. With how easily GT was scoring and rebounding down low I find it amazing that we didn't play Hendo for more than 2 minutes in the first half. It is like Linc didn't want to win.
A few other things that really frustrated me. On the perimeter there were a ton of guys giving up a foot or two of space at the 3 point line and had low hands. GT just shot over the top of GB like it was a shoot around. I have no clue how GB is ever going to win a game if they aren't playing defense in the half court. On one hand it looks like effort issues and then on the other it looks like they are doing what they are told because they are all doing it. Who knew it would only take 3 games for me to miss Wardle going nuts on the sidelines over a lack of defensive execution.
As a long time fan I am embarrassed to support these last two games. Something has to change because on the current direction this could snowball in a hurry.
One last thing, recruits like to run up and down but more than anything they like to win. Chicago State runs up and down, has a great arena and is close enough to the loop yet they don't recruit anyone of interest because they don't win. So my feeling is a coach has a two year window to start winning in their style to get recruits. If kids see a style they like with a team trending up they will come. If they see a style they like a team trending down or flat they will only go there as a fallback option. Winning matters and the last two games have me copying from Jim Mora...What’s that? Ah — Recruits? Don’t talk about — recruits? You kidding me? Recruits? I just hope we can win a game! Another game.

Wisconsin, Valpo and maybe even Oakland are better teams than Georgia Tech. GT has a couple shooters that we did not defend at all and one undersized post player that looked good but look who we had out there to defend him. They will be thrilled to make the NIT after going through the ACC gauntlet.
Those three games are behind us. Outside of Wisconsin, we should be able to compete with everyone else until Valpo in mid January.

A resounding yes to all of this minus wardle, I'd rather have a cardboard cut out on the sidelines.
