Monster match-up on national TV. Should be rocking at the Resch. A battle for 1st place. This is why we're basketball fans.
Green Bay has been awesome on the home floor, 9-0 with 8 wins by 15 or more.

I will be heading up with friends who like to get loud, it should be fun.
I have noticed this in the past when checking out other message boards but I didn't realize this was a thing...Valpo fans don't like GB and despise Coach Wardle. I have no clue where that came from but it may be the weirdest one way rivalry in the league. They ripped on him winning coach of the year last year and they think they will win tonight because Wardle will mess it up.
I don't expect GB to win by double digits, I am an not suggesting Wardle is master with the X & O's but with their advanced stats I think Valpo fans may be underestimating experience and will power. I do think GB should win because they usually keep playing. This year they have had several moments when past GB teams would have folded and outside of the road game at GSU they have never quit. They kept playing their game and most of the time are able to pull out a win. Style, pace, skill and whatever else may not be as important as just having a sheer will to win.

The key to tonight's game is making enough outside shots from Love, AMAC and Keifer. Fernandez is probably the best rim protector that we have played since Kaminsky all year. Hopefully our attacking defensive can get him into foul trouble and and keifer does a good job of either finishing or finding the open guy. Fouse vs Peters should be a good head to head matchup. Can we make our FTs to win a close game?

Should be a packed house tonight. Was able to easily convince 5 friends to come along thanks to Bud night. I know when they did these promotions in the past, they always had nice crowds. It is definitely something they need to take advantage of seeing as the Resch is not on campus. The Gamblers pack em in on beer nights, so I'm guessing tonight will be the same.

Good ballgame, great defense on both sides. The Phoenix will have to make more open shots and FTs to beat these guys again. Valpo was very impressive.

Good ballgame, great defense on both sides. The Phoenix will have to make more open shots and FTs to beat these guys again. Valpo was very impressive. GB wins 51-50. Defense won this ball game. We do have to cure the FT problem. Missing the front end of two 1-1's in the last seconds could have killed us. Our FT% was 4.8% higher than our FG% and we missed 3 or 4 front ends of 1-1's for the night. All I'm going to say is the refs were as bad as usual. When we left the radio announcer said Valpo was 5 for 27 shooting in the 2nd half?

Hard fought game and am very happy we came out on top. Amac love and Mayes really stepped up and Sykes played hard but shot just would not fall. Speaking of Sykes shot, I really watched it and his jumper lacks rotation. It does rotate but very little. His free throws have more rotation so to me he is not following through correctly on his jump shot. I am sure the coaches will see that and work with him. Awesome win and in to the next game.
Also I loved the atmosphere at the end of the game. We need more crowds like that.

This was the most intense defensive game I've seen in a long time. The re-match will be a war. There will be no easy road to the NCAA Tournament in the Horizon League. The team that earns the automatic berth will be the toughest and the most injury free.

I was on edge the whole game, glad we pulled it out at the end! Truth be told however, this win is no more gratifying that the CSU game. ONCE AGAIN, our "genius" coach puts in BY FAR the worst player on the team in clutch situations in which he couldn't deliver. Someone please explain how swapping out Mays for Lowe at any point in any game, let alone this one, makes any sense at all. To be honest, Lowe was so bad yesterday that he couldn't have played at Syble Hopp (harsh, I know). Not only was he uncoordinated and saw several balls lost between his legs, off his face, yes his face, and right out of his hands, but his travel early in the game was one of the worst basketball moves I have ever seen. He contributed nothing defensively outside of maybe one or two rebounds and on offense he made some of the luckiest turn around jumpers in the lane that lacked any real skill. I'm sure he is a nice guy but he simply doesn't belong on the court. From what I understand he hasn't been playing basketball real long which accounts for some of this but if Wardle was the genius that everyone says, then he would limit his minutes and try to develop his basic skills before he throws him out there against Valpo. Mays should have had far more minutes than Lowe. I can't possibly try to understand Wardle's logic simply because there is no logic to understand. There were people all around me echoing the same thoughts so I know I'm not the only one with this viewpoint.
The game was not managed properly from start to finish, it honestly felt like this was the basketball version of the NFC championship and Wardle was trying to blow it at the end much like McCarthy.

Green Bay won because Wardle out coached Drew down the stretch. GB was productive after time outs, including the big Mays bucket. Valpo had their worst possessions of the game after time outs. I've noticed that from Drew in past games too. They have tons of talent. E Victor Nickerson is an underutilized talent. Lowe played well, his passing from the high post is a big boost. There's no statistical evidence that Lowe is a poor defender. Your hatred for him is puzzling. Only complaint continues to be free throw shooting. It could have easily cost GB another loss last night. Luckily the defense held. Holding a team to 18% shooting in the 2nd half is amazing, especially for a team that supposedly doesn't make in game adjustments.

^^^ Seriously? Did you even watch the game last night? Lowe literally contributed next to nothing and caused nothing but turnovers and headaches for GB fans. Was pulling Mays for Lowe really a great coaching move? No. I don't understand if people on here are in denial or just silently agree with me because no one has been able to prove why pulling Mays for Lowe makes any sense. A few games ago I posted Lowes stats until that point, including points allowed, which proved that he had no business being out there, and I'm sure if I looked again it would be the same story. There is not one serious basketball fan on the planet who could've watched that game last night and thought Lowe played well.
We just happened to win because Valpo missed shots in the second half, some due to good defense, others due to just luck. Every win cannot be chalked up to Wardle's coaching "prowess".
