Good work Jimmy. Only correction is that this was Sledge's 3rd chance, not 2nd. He was suspended early in his Wright State career. He received 19 days in jail for last years incident because it also wasn't his 1st domestic disturbance issue.
Allowing Sledge to play last year was an embarrassment. Billy Donlon has zero integrity and is simply not a man. Enabling those who commit violence against women and children is the same as doing the act yourself.
From a basketball standpoint, Wright State sucked even with Sledge. After losing 6 rotational seniors plus lowlife Sledge, WSU will be worse than ever. Donlon will get canned, but it won't have come soon enough.

I had no idea about the first one. This is beyond embarrassing.

I had no idea about the first one. This is beyond embarrassing. The other person who should be embarrassed here is Commissioner LeCrone. When Donlon made the terrible decision to allow Sledge to play, LeCrone should have stepped in and said "we won't tolerate these actions" and dropped a suspension of his own. Instead the commissioner continued his weak stance on discipline and the entire conference was embarrassed once again.

Wright State has, by far, the most popular board in the conference during the offseason, and the place is practically dead in the last week (in comparison to normal).

And now Big D is coming on the UWMFreak board. Calls me spineless, a hack, etc.

And now Big D is coming on the UWMFreak board. Calls me spineless, a hack, etc. He should be less concerned with who's talking about the ongoing incident and more concerned for all the people Sledge has victimized, along with the people who enabled it to continue to go on.

In more positive news for the conference, Vapor landed a big commitment today. 6' 11" Derek Smits, son of longtime Indiana Pacer Rik Smits, the Dunking Dutchman.
Derek is on the soft side, but has serious offensive upside.
The other schools in this conference seriously need to add more talent like this to give Green Bay some competition.

I believe WSU should have allowed Sledge to keep his scholarship last year but not let him play basketball. If the AD truly wanted to help him that is what he would have done but instead chose to let him play which was to the benefit of the University. When someone is struggling with decisions like Sledge has you need to eliminate some of the outside distractions so he could have focused on the truly important things like his family and life.
So whether or not his stuff was removed from the site to me is irrelevant and the true point is he should have not been allowed to play basketball. This is where their AD messed up.
I am not a professional writer and did not research my opinion but feel that is what should have occurred.

Um, they went to the Horizon tournament championship game for the second straight year and have won something like 43 games over the last two seasons.

Was that a good year? That team had an RPI of 171. Wright State had an RPI of 173 last year. Filling up on a cupcake schedule doesn't impress me. A 173 RPI with a roster full of seniors in a coaches 4th year leading the program? Donlon hides his ineptitude with cream puff scheduling. Wright State fans have noticed, and attendance has shrunk. Their non- conference strength of schedule was 336th. They played teams like Houston Baptist. Easy to see how you were a huge Kowalczyk backer. He padded the schedule too, though not as bad as Donlon. At least Tod never had off the court problems like Donlon has. Tod recruited quality young men. Donlon is taking shortcuts and getting nowhere doing it.

Our fans just want a chance to go the tournament. A chance. We haven't had that in what, 15 years. Haven't even been to the championship game since the Heideman era. Every team in the conference has been the to tournament (except Youngstown) since the last time we went. And many of those teams have been multiple times. Heck, UIC has been 3 or 4 times since we went last. The conference and the conference tournament is what matters. Who cares about RPI if you can't get in.
