I am always nervous when we play Milwaukee as you have to throw the records out the window. I expect it to be a close game with the Phoenix pulling it out in the last 3-4 minutes.
Also, due to it being Milwaukee I expect a crowd around the size or a little bigger than the Valpo game.

The Phoenix were so poor the last 9 minutes of the game, it took any enjoyment out of that win. Good first half, good start to the second half, then disastrous final 1/4 of the game. When you see a stretch where the Phoenix play that poorly in a game where they had about a 30 point lead, it makes you question whether this team is really going anywhere. That was horrendous.

The least of my worries is how the team responds to 30 point leads. Fun first half. Total domination. A dunkfest. The officials ruined the game the first 4 minutes of the 2nd half. Great to see Amac have the breakout performance.

Great to see Amac have the breakout performance. This was a fun game to watch that was never in doubt. Many players had good-great games. It's to early but I could predict one new star for next year already. I think we're in good shape for next year and getting better depth with bench players getting more time. I do wish we could cure our FT problem, other teams have noted it and use it when they have to foul. When you get a 30 point lead you experiment to see what works. C Love had the most minutes at 34 while UWM had 2 players at 38+ and 1 was 1-12. Also give UWM some credit for taking some wild 3's and getting them to fall. When your down by that much you don't have anything to lose and they worked hard. Like J said the officials changed the tempo in the 2nd half. It was like they swallowed their whistles and every time they opened their mouth it went off. Our whole section was getting upset about their calls both ways. A lot of comments that wasn't a foul and 10 seconds later same person saying ok a make up call by a different official. Probably not the best officials but what's new. Now if you want to see a game ruined by the last minutes just go back to the last Packer game! That's the type of results that would take my enjoyment away.

I thought the officating in the second half was interesting. It looked like they were mad at GB and wanted to bring them down off their high. A call that really makes no sense is the one on Sykes in the lane when i think it was springs trying to post him up. He had his back to springs and jumped straight up to knock the ball away. Also, they let Tiby push and pull his way around the court with no foul being called.
I really like how Love has been playing. He attacks when they play him tight and shoots when they sag off of him. The guy is just playing some really good basketball.
As for the end ruining the game i don't think that at all. To me it is a learning point that the coaching staff will build off of. We still came out with the W and in the end that is all that matters. I would rather win ugly than lose pretty.
Did anyone notice Jeter kept working the ref in the first half instead of working his defense to play better. The guy is a joke.
Lastly, from what i could tell 5 of the 7 players in their rotation are either juco transfers or came from another team. On the flip side GB only has one person that came from another team in the main rotation.

He shares the basketball well," UWM coach Rob Jeter said of Sykes. "You're going to have that at times. We spent a lot of time trying to control Keifer, but we're undersized. We've got some guys playing different positions."
The above quote is in the Milwaukee Journal. How can Jeter say they are undersized? They start JJ 6'11" and Tiby 6'8" and have the Prahl twins on the bench that are around 6'9". The guy is full of excuses instead of looking at himself. If you can enlighten me as to how they are undersized I would appreciate it.

one more. I would like to thank Jeter for not recruiting Fouse and Love as they are incredible players here at Green Bay.

What is up with Sykes these days? Yes he's become more of a facilitator, but why? Last year it seemed like every chance he got he would drive the lane and make plays happen. He's not a jump shooter and never will be no matter how much he wants to be. Luckily, however, we do not have to be singularly reliant on Sykes with Love and Mays, even McKinnie, stepping up lately. In order to make a run this year Sykes has to reemerge as our premier play maker though.

This year he is getting the extra attention. As long as his teammates continue to contribute they will be OK.

Other teams are gearing their defense to stop him which opens up things for his teammates and a true team player will facilitate more. So in my opinion he is being the ultimate team player.
His shot selection has been decent but they are just not dropping. I have stated a while back that his ball lacks rotation and is almost a knuckle ball. As basketball people know that is not conducive to getting the favorable roll on the rim. I would hope the coachs have caught this flaw and are working to correct it. His free throws do have more rotation by the way so it is his jump shot that has to be tweaked.

It was nice to get a win especially in a rivalry game. I didn't like losing a 31 point lead but some of that was better effort by Milwaukee in the last 8 minutes (GB was up 27 with 8 to play). Some of that was GB playing slow and using clock without scoring. Some of that was Lyle and Springs hitting 3 of their 4 combined 3's in the last 1:34 of the game. I am going to focus on the start as they came out and played the kind of game they needed to early.
Tiby had a nice game in the box score but his attitude is hard to like. I get being the villain but there are better players in the league that are taunted by the home fans and never respond or play into it.
The quotes from Jeter about being hurt and short handed are hilarious to me since Milwaukee fans constantly rip on GB for losing last year in the same condition. Well GB didn't get their lunch handed to them when they were short handed but the point is Jeter should be given the same treatment by Milwaukee fans.
Finally for Sykes he did take 27.5% of the teams shots so he was looking to score. He just seemed unable or potentially unwilling to really drive in as he took 5 three pointers out of 16 shots and had no free throws. With the game in hand I don't mind too much as I wouldn't want him to be warn out or hurt in March. I just want to make sure he doesn't develop any habits and when it is big money time he is playing with aggressiveness.

He had surgery last July on same shoulder he hurt playing for GB. Just shows how tough he was last year playing after dislocating it the 1st time. It was hard watching him after he came back trying to rebound with one arm. He literally played his last games at GB with one arm tied behind his back. www.rotoworld.com/recent/nba/2399/alec-brown
