Cleveland State was a disappointment in the non conference slate, but have cranked things up a notch in conference play. They defend and shoot the 3. Green Bay will need control the CSU guards and exploit their size advantage.

The game I have been waiting to see all year. This game would have had a lot more juice if both teams could have came out of Oakland with a win especially if CSU did as this game would be for sole possession of 1st place but instead it becomes a must win for my CSU Vikings if we want to have any chance at all to win the regular season crown.
Good luck guys hoping for a good one but CSU is likely down 2 players Yates and Mason and this is not a deep team.

I hate quitting on teams, but I can't even finish watching this one. Absolutely pathetic. Whatever happened to Skyes' intensity on offense. His game is predicated on driving the lane and using his athleticism to draw fouls and make shots, but he has been so passive this whole year.
I've never seen a worse excuse for defense than Lowe trying to guard Grady in the post. You'd think after the third foul or so our resident genius would have put someone taller on Grady like Uwadiae, I mean honestly, we wouldn't lose a single thing defensively with that swap.
This game featured some of the sloppiest turnovers I have ever seen at any level. I know we were down early and often but that doesn't mean we have to live and die by the three either, we aren't a great three point shooting squad so why make that our method of recovery?
The "defense" that was played obviously wasn't working, you'd think after the fourth wide open three that CSU made after poorly drawn up and executed traps that we would try something different, but I guess the integrity of the gameplan was more important than switching it up.

That was the kind of game where the coach takes the game film and burns it.
Most likely the Phoenix will have to win out to get a 2nd consecutive regular season title as they'll need to beat Valpo on the road. After an awful game like this, it's hard to be overly optimistic about that.

Well that wasn't a game for the GB archives. CSU certainly has talent, Lewis and Grady are top 5 in the league type of guys who certainly played about as well as they could against GB. I really couldn't picture those guys doing more as they were dominating as is. Watching Grady work does have me curious to see what Kanter and Torres could develop into over time. Grady was impossible to stop especially without getting a double team and those two for GB have similar builds.
Moving forward the loss doesn't change anything for winning the league. All 4 teams at the top have to hold serve at home against the other 3 top teams. So far that has been the case as none of them have won on the road against the others. So losing at Valpo in the future doesn't worry me at this time. Winning at Valpo or losing at home to CSU or Oakland would be game changers for the positioning down the stretch. That leaves home games against Detroit and Milwaukee with road games at WSU, YSU and UIC. If GB can win at WSU which is a big if since they are usually tough at home that will give me lots of hope coming down the stretch. Of the top 3 they play 2 at home. Of the middle tier in the HL they play two at home. Of the current bottom tier they have to play on the road. That looks like something I can live with.
By comparison Valpo doesn't play UIC or YSU at all. They go on the road to Milwaukee, Detroit and CSU. Oakland only has 3 home games left...Detroit, UIC and YSU. They don't play CSU again. They have to go on the road to UIC, Valpo, Milwaukee, WSU and GB. If they win the league with that ahead of them then they deserve to win it. CSU is at home with YSU, WSU, UIC and Valpo. They go on the road to Detroit, GB and Milwaukee.
I am way ahead of the one game at a time that it takes but in a tough league with a round robin format I like what GB has left for controlling their own destiny compared to the other front runners.

Good game guys this was the Cleveland State team I have been waiting to see all year. Oakland has been the surprise game changers they swept all 3 of us at home (CSU, GB and Valpo).
CSU had a 1 point lead with 45 seconds left but couldn't close the deal. CSU also lost at Valpo by 2 when Lewis missed 2 FT's when CSU was fouled down 3 with less than 3 seconds left.
Oakland isn't a very good road team already lost at Detroit so I would expect both you and Valpo to beat Oakland.
I would expect CSU to lose at Green Bay so our loss at Oakland is magnified as that would been the game changer as far as we are concerned.
CSU has to win at home vs Valpo which will be tough and has to win at Detroit and should win the other games which they should win the other home games and at Milwaukee.
CSU has never hosted the Horizon tournament and I really thought this was going to be the year CSU won the regular season but then Forbes transferred out and I figured CSU was doomed.
It's wide open for the top 4 teams.

Based on the FT numbers, it looked like GB settle for jump shots again on offense. Defensively, GB could not defend the perimeter.
GBPhoenix1 is right that GB can still control it's own destiny, but the margin of error is razor thin. They will probably lose at Valpo, but any more losses after that will kill their chances at winning the regular season HL title and hosting the conference tourney.
