Green Bay (20-5, 10-2) @ Cleveland State (18-9, 9-3) When: Saturday, 3:00 Where: Cleveland, Ohio TV: Time Warner Cable SportChannel Streaming: HLN, ESPN3
A game as big as it gets. Cleveland State can move into a tie for 1st with a win. Green Bay can set themselves up for a chance to clinch the outright conference championship at home Thursday versus Valpo just by winning today.
Winning won't be easy. CSU will defend physically and is 2nd in the nation in 3 point shooting. The Nix have to take advantage of CSU's lack of size inside, and really, really need to defend the arc. Defense by Sykes and Love will be key.
Awesome this is on TV. Go Phoenix!!

I don't want to say this is for all the marbles but with a win it gives GB so much breathing room. I will be curious to see if CSU can pack the Wolstein. As I mentioned is the YSU thread, with Lowe and McKinnie it creates a big man advantage for GB in most games. I would hope that by bringing waves of big active bodies we see a similar defensive and rebounding performance against CSU as they had at YSU. As a fan I want this win badly.

Yes the extra big seems to really make a difference. Also the passing has really improved by penetrating and dishing to the open man. Fouse had some really nifty shovel passes to others for wide open layups. Time for a follow through Win.

Great 1st half for the Phoenix. Up 13 and now 20 minutes away from another win versus a RPI top 100 team.

Any league road win is always a good one, but this was even better.
Great win. Alec came out aggressive early and did really well. Keifer did his thing. Zo impressed, the team plays with so much more energy when he's on the floor.

Well that was one way to win this game. I certainly didn't expect to come out early and blow CSU away. I suppose we saw first hand at Valpo what happens when you don't have one of your best players so I would expect a closer game if there is a third match up. I really thought they did a great job early of grabbing all the boards, loose balls and altering shots. In the second half they couldn't get a board and even though CSU still wasn't shooting it well GB gave them enough chances that they made it close for a bit. Down the stretch the ft shooting was solid and helped put the win on ice.
The best part for Alec today was his rebounding, he grabbed a lot of boards. Also, he had a ton of alters to go with his blocks.
I can't wait for McKinnie to round into shape. Four months ago there is no way anyone is blocking his dunk yet that has happened a few times this year since he came back. Once he gets his legs look out. Plus his form on his jumper looked good and I enjoyed seeing a 3 ball splash in, more space on the court when that happens.
Mays made a living on the baseline either taking the jumper or crashing to the hoop. It is hard to stop the Phoenix when he is contributing like that.
Now they can't get too excited. I thought the focus was there in Ohio and knowing what could happen on Thursday with a win they need to have that intensity instead of feeling comfortable because of a two game lead. They have their mojo back but based on the their last 4 games with Valpo they need to have their A game.

I was able to watch the first 35 minutes. Left when CSU cut it to 11. The last 2 games they played like they did on their winning streak. AB and KS both had a very nice games but what I liked the most was how Jordan has been playing too. Loved it when he acted like he was going back on defense then turned and stole the inbound pass for a layup. Like the announcers keep saying by his Sr. year he'll be the leagues MVP the way he's getting better. Mays just keeps hitting baseline jumper again and again and again. Good minutes off the bench, you can see flashes in McKinnie can't wait until he's really back in shape. They only thing I'm going to complain about are FT's. Great job on the road Men and let's rock Thursday with another win only made sweeter by it being Valpo.

We needed this one bad.....We get the 2 game lead and momentum back, and I think they will make a similar statement against Valpo at home. They got their a** handed to them in Valpo the last time and I think they want some redemption for their bad performance.

Can't make excuses for that bad of a beat down, but have to remember AB was out.
