UIC has played a lot of close games, it is very important to not let them get over the hump on Wednesday night. They are without Humes which is good because he has usually played well against GB.
I suppose I will post the usual questions. Any updates on the strength of Alec's shoulder? Buzz reported McKinnie will be back this year, a game against his home town team seems like a good time to return!
After 2 straight home crowds of over 5000 I would hope that they can get 3500+ out on a Wednesday night and with a win get 6000+ on Saturday. I will be watching from home in Milwaukee on the HLN but I will be up on Saturday.
No letdowns and protect the home court. I wouldn't say that GB has an easy schedule to finish the season with 4 of the last 5 on the road so getting home wins and padding the lead is important.

It's a crime that this team isn't averaging 6k at this point in the season. Talk to your neighbors and coworkers.

Another ugly 1st half. I think we will still win by 10+. Is it just me or is UIC going after Alec's shoulder in a dirty way? More so early on, but seemed like it was intentional. Also, these refs are awful.

I don't think so, I think it's just the price of playing in the post in a tough conference.

Doesn't look like the shoulder is bothering Brown.

Panther please tell your UWM friends that Brown's shoulder injury makes him ineffective from outside and there's know need to guard him at the three point line.

Another double digit victory, despite some ugly free throw shooting. Great to see Alec shoot well. Great 2nd half for Kenneth Lowe. They need to defend the 3 better, but they did close off anything in the lane with our shotblockers. Too many missed layups in this one Findlay played well other than the 2 layups he gagged.

I see Vince didn't play last night. Did I miss something here; Is he hurt?

Box score showed Garrett played 2 minutes last Saturday against Wright State and got a DNP last night. I have seen nothing on any injury. We seem to have at least one of these situations every year where a guy goes from being a lock starter (or at least high minutes) to riding the pines over the course of 10 or so games. I don't understand these things. It's hard for me to imagine a guy's skill level going from one extreme to the other extreme over the course of the year (at least not a senior like Garrett). In my opinion, this type of thing arises due to a personality conflict with the coach or something of that nature. At least we don't need to speculate about Garrett transferring since he's already a senior.
I am glad we're in the situation we are in as far as Conference standings and I sure hope we can hang on and host the Horizon championship. I am a little concerned with how our play can look at times. Despite our record, I do think we are a very beatable team, given what appears to me to be inconsistency in several aspects of our game.

I am happy that GB won, it certainly felt like they had the game in hand but could never get over the hump. With the free throw misses and the combination of Findlay and Sykes not making a lot of close up shots they gave away a lot of opportunities to blow UIC out. I was surprised that GB had such a big advantage on the boards since Alec was still only rebounding with 1 arm and it felt like he missed a lot of boards that UIC grabbed.
I guess I am still not too worried despite some hiccups in how they play. In the end they usually seem to be able to overwhelm the other team and wear them down. There are just too many weapons to have everyone cold all game long. In this game Sykes turned what should have been a 30+ point scoring game into an 18 point scoring game and GB still won with a comfortable margin because other guys stepped up.
Just my guess but Vince isn't hurt and he isn't being a bad apple. He still did his dance routine before the game and he had his warm up off and was ready to play during the game. I think the truth is that he isn't as good as he looks like he should be. He isn't shooting well from deep right now and he hasn't been able to get to the hoop a lot without some combination of traveling/turnover/missing. On defense he isn't quite quick enough for little guys and tall enough for big guys. A DNP is a surprise since they tolerated these flaws all year. I wouldn't doubt if he played in the next game but this just strikes me as Vince not being good enough to keep minutes when Findlay has been on the rise. Of course it could be something random like punishment for him tackling Benny the Bull in Valpo before the game.
If only they had someone to take Fulton's minutes, good grief did he miss on a 3 pointer again.

I agree with everything GBPhoenix1 states above 100% especially on the Fulton comments. His 3 pointer was just horrible and could not believe how badly he missed it. He also is not a good rebounder and defender.

I also agree with GBPhoenix1 but can someone explain how Humphrey got minutes in the game and VG did not? Even though Humphrey was in for just a few minutes I still find it hard to believe that VG shouldn't have been in for that short time. Guys get into funks throughout the season and they need to be allowed to play through them. Fulton has been given this entire season to try and get out of his funk which I really don't understand because VG has a much higher ceiling than does Fulton. I feel this is something personal between BW and VG.

Pure speculation from new members. That has a bit of an odor. Especially when it comes from an anonymous poster.

Well I'm glad you read the last sentence, and I am entitled to an opinion, which is something that these message boards are built upon. Do you have an explanation as to why you believe VG is on the bench when Humphrey is seeing the floor and Fulton is getting generous minutes? It cannot possibly be a talent issue when compared to Humphrey and Fulton.

If you would have watched the game, you would have noticed that Humphrey was a defensive substitution at the end of the first half and that was all.
