Wright State (13-11, 5-4) @ Green Bay (17-4, 7-1) When: Saturday, 6:00 Where: The Resch Center, Green Bay TV: ESPN2
Huge game for the Phoenix. Wright State has been mediocre and lost at UWM last night, but are good enough to pull the upset with Alec Brown out or limited. Green Bay needs to show well on national TV. White Out game with first 3,000 fans getting free tee-shirts, and its alumni weekend. Hope the team can rise up and make the former Phoenix proud!
The team has looking tired the last 2 games. Hopefully they got a little time off their legs this week and can bring it Saturday night. It looks like Alec Brown will be a gametime decision.
Don't forget about the time change, this game was moved from 5:00 to 6:00 to accomadate a bump up to ESPN2.

I read on Twitter that ALec said if game was today that he would not play but it keeps getting better everyday. Lets all hope that he wakes up tomorrow and feels a lot better.

I checked the UWM game and UWM was up by as many as 20 in the 1st half and ended the half up 15. They got most of the points in the paint WSU couldn't stop them down low. WSU made a big come back in the 2nd half with Yoho making 3's and bringing them back to end it at 4 point UWM win.

Alec's shot seems to be impacted by the injury. A solid team effort tonight. The announcers were comparing Sykes to Allen Iverson. Not bad company. ;-)

Good game maybe not real pretty but a big win. Mays and Keifer had great games. Alec was a real gamer. He's the only one armed player that can make that much of a difference on defense. Altered and blocked shoots regularly. Took down 2 rebounds 1 handed and just played hard, shooting was tough and you could see it affected him there the most. I know he'll be sore tomorrow but hopefully back to normal in 2-3 weeks. Tevin got in and almost looks to be the 3rd player off the bench depending on the other teams size. Garrett gave us some good minutes early and Love really played great D. Tough D won the game tonight. Also a very nice crowd WTG Phoenix.
Mays was 9-10 with a 3 and 22 points, Keifer had 18.

Happy to get the win over a solid team. They probably as a team need to look at shooting fewer 3s, they just aren't good from there and take a few too many. Greg Mays was tremendous, he's really dveloping into an all around player.

Great game and the size of crowd was nice to see. Only issue for me is student section looked like they were watching golf. It would be nice if they got loud especially on other team free throws.

Great to see Greg Mays dominate again. He was playing really well until he fell on his tailbone versus Chicago St. Then he sprained his ankle to further slow him down. He showed signs of being his real self against Valpo, then this. His play will be huge down the stretch.
Also just great to beat Wright State and Billy Donlon again. What kind of coach allows a person like Tavarres Sledge to play on his team, much less start? Sledge spent 17 days in jail earlier in the season after beating up his girlfriend. Donlon ignores it because his team need size. Sad.
A friend of mine told me before the 1st Green Bay/Wright State game that Donlon was a better coach than Wardle. That's hilariously inaccurate. Just look where the 2 have lead their programs. Green Bay has a program that can compete and beat the best programs in the country despite just 1 senior starter. Wright State has 5 seniors playing major roles, yet they've fallen to a sub-200 RPI team. They look to continue to decline next year. Donlon's slow style of play kills their recruiting, while Green Bay's exciting brand is creating a buzz.
Hope Alec can start practicing again soon, so this Phoenix team can get back closer to full strength and finish strong.

Awesome to be able to watch the game on EPSN2, and see the other games live on the Internet.
Very impressive and entertaining team. A couple observations about topics mentioned in various threads:
I don't get into speculating about an at-large NCAA bid. This team needs to host and win the Horizon tournament and make any at-large discussions unnecessary.
Let's hope Saturday's 3-point shooting effectiveness was an aberration. On Saturday night I saw one air-ball and at least one bad brick put up. That should not happen, especially at home. They went 3 for 18 in this game for a 16.7% clip. That's nasty.

another point on Donlon is that he cries to the refs on almost everything and does not get a technical.

What a difference Alec makes even with one hand. He added a lot of spacing as he got his usual shots, I think he just needs to shake some rust off. Plus he really wasn’t looking to play in the post yet with his arm so that will make a difference as it gets stronger. Plus his defensive awareness, he just brings so much to the defense even if he isn’t blocking every shot.
Obviously teams are trying to take away Keifer’s ability to drive and dunk, yet he still was able to get to the rim and make shots. He is just really hard to guard him with his handles.
G was so confident. He made some layups so WSU gave him jumpers. He made some jumpers so they contested and he drove in for layups. It was just a great offensive display for Greg. As Sykes said after the game G should and could do that more, he doesn’t have to wait around for opportunity.
I really liked the passing game from Love. He contributed even though his shot was broken. I thought Findlay had some nice contributions in the first half but maybe got a little too comfortable with some turnovers in the second half. Vince didn’t get much burn which doesn’t bother me too much but he also is a hustler and a guy who really goes off of momentum.
Donlon is not one of my favorites. From a talent standpoint alone I don’t get why Hopkins, Young, Sledge, and Arceneaux don’t play together more. WSU would be able to create advantages for their team more so than Vest and Griffin create.
