Detroit (8-12, 1-4) @ Green Bay (16-3, 6-0) When: Sunday, 1:00 Where: The Resch Center, Green Bay HD streaming: Horizon League Network
Sunday afternoon with no football and youth jersey giveaway day, should be the biggest crowd of the conference season so far. Lots have this game as part of their 8 game package.
Detroit has been inconsistent with a young backcourt, but remain dangerous because of their athletism. Coach Wardle stated on his show that this Detroit team is even more physical than usual. After an underwhelming season as a sophomore, Juwan Howard Jr has been outstanding this year. Freshman guards Jarod Williams and Mathew Grant are on the rise.
Hopefully the Nix start getting healthy. They didn't have enough bodies for 5 on 5 last week. Need all hands on deck to run the win streak to 12. See you there!
Detroit plays at Milwaukee tonight, which can be seen on Time Warner SportsChannel. That should be a good one.

I'm really hoping to see another win at the game Sunday. It seems harder and harder as the streak goes on but another home win would be great. We need to see 4,000+ fans and hopefully more come out. Hope the Men are getting healthy, I just read abovethat they could't field 5 on 5 in practice. Detroit's always a tough game we will need eveyone. Also with Detroit playing Milwaukee tonight maybe they'll be the tired ones Sunday, here's hoping. Go Phoenix.

Detroit hammered Milwaukee tonight 73-54. Their freshman backcourt combined for 26. Should be a good game Sunday.

With YSU beating Wright State tonight, everyone else in the conference has at least 3 losses. Let's hope no one is over-confident, still 10 conference games to be played.

Heart breaking to see Alec get hurt. Hoping he just popped it out and not have a bad dislocation. His reaction was bad.

Guess I'll say it again. I'll take the ugliest win over the prettiest loss.

It wasn't the best win, but Detroit is better than it's record. Everyone contributed Keifer had the points but only shoot in the low 30%, but killed them on FT's. We did a good job of attacking the basket and got to the FT line often. G Mays did have a double double. It looked like Alec anterior dislocated his shoulder with 6-7 minutes left. Team rallied and played hard to make up for his loss. He got a nice hand when he came out from the locker room and had a big bag of ice on it. Yes he was in alot of pain, and needed the trainer to support arm to get off the floor. After not missing a game we'll have to wait to see how long this may take to heal.

Tough shooting day, but still another double digit win. Great defense down the stretch.
Tevin Findlay appears to be finally cracking the rotation. Good minutes from him today. He has completely boughten into the defense. He's really improved his lateral quickness, and he creates shots for his teammates offensively.
We wait breathlessly to hear about Alec's shoulder.

Today's attendance was an outstanding 5,503. NE Wisconsin has jumped on board the bandwagon. Just as we thought, the fans would come out to see a championship contender. I'd expect huge crowds for the final 3 weekend home games.

He jumped up to block a shot and hit his left shoulder on the bottom of the backboard. He walked to the sideline, official called time and the trainer came and helped him get to the locker room.

I am really happy the crowd came out for the game. They didn't see a ton of baskets but the team played so hard that it didn't feel nearly as bad as the 28% shooting indicated. The crowd itself got loud which was great. I think Detroit scored just about every time the crowd got going until the end, still that was an atmosphere I would never get sick of.
As for the 28% shooting, it was bad for sure. Alec couldn't buy a bucket for awhile. I thought Detroit played really physical but also were not experienced enough to do it without fouling...very much like Chicago State. If you are going to let the GB guards shoot a ton of ft's that isn't a recipe for success. In the end though to win a game like that just shows how good this team can be. They have won grinding games and they have won shootouts. Pretty hard to stop when they have such a good defense they can rely on.
The weird part of the game to me was Detroit seemed so intent on not giving up a highlight play to Sykes that they didn't really seem intent to stop him. They fouled just about every time he was in transition going to the hoop. They completed over reacted anytime he cut to the rim for a lob. Then in the end they just seemed content to lose quickly and keep the score reasonable. They let GB run 25 seconds off the clock unguarded and didn't foul to extend the game on most possessions down the stretch.
I was very impressed with Tevin's offense in the first half. A nice drive, a nice dish for an assist, a nice dish to draw a foul and a nice pass for Mays to take unassisted to the hoop. Plus he played solid defense. I think they can go to him over Fulton a few more times. He is certainly starting to look like a long term piece in this program.
As for Alec, like everyone else I am hoping for a quick recovery. He didn't seem too uncomfortable on the bench with the ice on it.
Where any potential recruits in the building, they had to come away impressed if they were.

I thought the same thing at the end of the game, They seemed to give up while the game was still in doubt.
