The Phoenix finally return home and look to extend their current 10 game winning streak vs the Oakland Grizzlies. This will be the first official Horizon League game vs the Grizz. Last time the two teams played, Oakland won 76-52 in Michigan during the 09-10 season. Green Bay is hoping that the crowd numbers start to increase now that the packers season is over and they are winning games. UWGB hopes wins bring crowds.I really hope more people start going to their games, they are a very entertaining team to watch and most of the players have been through some challenging years and deserve the support from the community.

I agree completely. I expect a tough game from Oakland. They shoot alot of 3's and if they are on it could be a long game. This is one of the games were our D will be very important in contesting every 3. Hands up Men on Defense. Our Offense will take care of itself. Looking forward to some fun and shutting down their outside game would really make it fun.

Oakland (7-13, 2-3) @ Green Bay (15-3, 5-0) When: Wednesday, 1/22, 7:00 Where: The Resch Center, Green Bay HD Streaming: Horizon League Network
I welcome the Grizzlies to the HL, but I doubt the Phoenix will be as accomadating on the court. The Grizz played a killer non-conference, which explains part of their bad record, but they haven't played to their potential in winnable games either. With shooter Travis Bader, big man Cory Petros, and defender Duke Mondy, the Grizzlies should be competing for 2nd place in confernce. They have a veteran coach who's a proven winner. I'll be interesting in watching them in person to try to see what's missing. I'm looking for another Phoenix double digit victory.
Hope the Nix are starting to get a little healthier, they were pretty banged up by the end of the road trip.
As GBNix11 stated, it's time for the crowds to come out. Packers season is long over, and this Green Bay team is nothing short of awesome. Don't let the weather be an excuse, the games are played INDOORS! If you miss your chance to watch Keifer Sykes and Alec Brown in person, you'll end up regretting it.

A coach begging for people to come out, that's a new tactic. Must mean the new AD is holding the coach responsible for poor ticket sales just like the old AD used to do. I know a bunch of people in my section that can't go tonight said they can't give their tickets away.

Wish I would have saw this sooner, I had about a dozen people talk to me about the game and about tickets, none had been there recently and wanted info on the ticket process. This team is definately creating a buzz. To suggest that a college coach trying to hype a game is a new tactic is rather disinguine. That's been happening forever. Some are better at it than others. Kowalczyk struggled at it. People are more excited about Coach Wardle.

I don't think the attendance will be the best tonight, but I bet Sunday will be packed. Then I'm sure we will pack it for the Wright State game that's on ESPN 2 and the Milwaukee game the following Saturday, those should be fun!

Solid first half.
Good to keep Bader shooting poorly.
I love Oakland's jerseys.
The stream has been butt for me.

I know a bunch of people in my section that can't go tonight said they can't give their tickets away. I was offered tickets but I am too busy at home. Easier to watch the game on Horizon.net or Time Warner or 32. If they want more people in the stands they might someday want to revisit the idea of giving away home games for free on TV. Kowalczyk held responsible for poor ticket sales? If that every happened, I'd be surprised. And if it was, it was too little, too late. Kowalczyk trolled the bottom 25 teams in the country for home games to boost his record (maybe defensible your first year or two, to turn a loser into a winner)... but longtime fans complained about the garbage schedule. And results suffered because when they got in a tough game his first five or six years, they were unprepared. Also, I think K was never held accountable for his irritating whining about officiating crews, two days rest when the opponent had three, players out with sprained ankles, having to play Bracket Busters, etc. and etc. Or for consistently losing every big game when it counted most, in February and March. Terrible tournament record. Kowalczyk was a winning coach here, a decent recruiter and apparently he's a better coach at Toledo (although he stole about 3 players from his UWGB team). But he poisoned fan support then and now. Fortunately, nothing an NCAA bid won't cure, and it looks promosing.

Really have to appreciate what the coaches have done and the hard work the players have put in.
I know I don't go to a lot of games 2-3 games a year. Outside that I don't miss a game on cable or online when available, since the early kowalcyck years
Not really sure what would have to happen to get out to more games.
When they had the Pepsi family section and it was only seven dollars a ticket I used to go to almost every conference game even though they were online at that time.
A lot of those games I would talk one to three people who normally wouldn't go to games unless they went with me. I prolly have a group of 8-10 people who never went to a game over the last decade unless they went with me.
Just kinda trying to brain storm. Maybe other posters should post why they do or don't go to games to help out the university do some market research for free.
I'd have to say it was the schanctner Tilema Evans years when I almost never missed a conference games.

I've been a season-ticket holder since the 1980 era because I like basketball, and it was something we did with the kids when they were younger. We're probably one of the few longtimers that stuck around after Bothof botched the seating when the Resch opened. Bothof always got on TK about attendance. Held him responsible for getting more people in the seats. I've known the Kowalczyk family for 30 years. If Tod turned people off, it was because he was shy, not arrogant. People mistook him and misunderstood him. Get him one on one or in a small group and he's great. I don't know what the new AD's policy on attendance is, but she should be as tough on Wardle as they were on Kowalczyk. I believe it to be one of the major reasons he left for Toledo. That and athletic department support all around.

Let's forget about attendance and show up to the games ourselves. Our team is riding an 11 game win streak that includes some impressive road wins, and some great comebacks, not to mention two NBA prospects.
Great win tonight. Keif keeps doing his thing, great way to battle back after giving up the lead.

Another great win by the Phoenix! Keifer did his thing in the last 10 minutes and was a stud. Fouse with another stat stuffer game. Love played great off the bench locking down Bader and scoring 17. Alec was a little off on offense, but hit a big 3 to tie it and played great defense in the paint. Every time he subbed out, Oakland went straight to Petros down low and he scored every time. Only remember 2 makes on AB. So good to see them winning these 50/50 games down the stretch. Seems like we lost 75% of those in past years. Let's keep it going on Sunday!

I like the last 2 games because the Phoenix were tested and responded calm and cool with wins. I hope they realize that on any given day any team can be beaten. We had a sloppy period from the 15 minute to 10 minute mark of the 2nd half. Dug ourselves a hole and then proceeded to just take over the game. Keifer is a stud and money ball player and plays his best when the game is on the line. My Grandaughter who goes to UWRF's was with us and asked me about Keifer's FT shooting after he was like 2-6. It was around the 5 minute mark in the game and I told her he usually goes 6-6 or 8-8 in the final 4-5 minutes. I said it's very rare for him to miss at the end of a game. From the 5 minute mark to the end of the game GB controlled the game in every way they wanted to. I would still love to see 40 minutes but this team playing 30-35 minutes can do what ever they want. But when they start doing it for 40 minutes they will be truely awesome. Also Love had a excellant game, Brown, Fouse and Mays were solid or better as usual. Oaklands Petros is a load and a very good player in the paint, never saw Bader get untraacked but I know he's made alot of 3's over his career. So I beleive it was GB's defense that made it hard for him. What was the T about and why did we get the ball back after it? I'm not into BB except GB so I've got alot to learn on rules.
