Green Bay Phoenix (5-3) @ South Dakota Coyotes (3-6) When: Saturday, December 14th, 7:00 Where: Vermillion, SD Media: ??
The Coyotes are just 3-6, but seem to be hitting their stride. In there last 2 games they suffered a 1 point loss at home versus Wyoming (RPI #54) and then lost last night by 2 to Kansas St. They have a quality big man in 6'10" center Trevor Gruis. Stat guru Jeff Sagarin's Predictor has this as a comfortable Nix victory, but they'll need to do it on the floor to make it count. Alfonzo McKinnie could possibly make his season debut in this one, but he likely won't be himself for awhile as he shakes off 7 weeks of rust.
Take care of business here and get home for a long homestand.

Scott Venci: Fouse a force on defense for Green BayColumn as true as the title. Fouse has been awesome defensively. Obviously he need to start making his bunnies on offense, but that will come. Will Fouse break Brown's shot-blocking record? I'd guess yes.

Nix win!! 89-85. They were down 21-7 early, but roared back to get the road victory. Now get home and get rolling on the long 5 game home stand. Lots of points scored in a total foul-fest.

Just happy to get a win on the road. Can not keep putting themselves in such a big hole.
I was not able to watch or listen today. Why such a poor start

Tough start to say the least. A few phantom shooting fouls, a few dumb turnovers that went for layups, some nice drive and kicks for jumpers for SD and suddenly GB was down 14.
After that it was a balanced attack for GB to come back for the win. IMO the score was not indicative of the comeback. Sykes and Love missed 4 ft's down the stretch, SD was in the double bonus and GB had a few dumb fouls and a few more phantom fouls to give up at least 8 straight points at the line. Once GB got rebounding the offensive glass they pulled away, credit to Fouse and Lowe for several second chance bunnies.
Also, credit to Alec for a second good game in a row. Hit from deep, high post and inside. Plus the assists, blocks and boards with no turnovers. One of his more complete games.
My only complaints are Fouse struggled to stay in front of a really good player in Bos and didnt get help several times. Fulton was really bad again, stop playing him. He doesn't make shots and struggles to defend without fouling. I can't believe Botz couldn't do at least that and since he has actually made jumpers he might actually add something to the lineup. Last please put the green in Green Bay and no longer wear black road uniforms. I feel like they never play well in those anyway.

Also, the streaming video was not worth the price. Low quality, it froze several times, missed some action and the SD radio guy didn't seem to know what was going on a lot of times. I appreciate Matt Menzel even more after last night.

To be honest I've completely forgot what the greens look like, or if there even are any. The only road games I've been to recently are the last two or three UWM games, and the two at Marquette, can't remember if they had a green uni for them, but with the style of jersey they have, a green with white jersey would look awesome, but I'm not even sure if there is one, to be honest.

Very nervous about this one through the first half, an issue I have noticed, the last two games especially, is our passing. Our turnover number was awful against E. Michigan, last night it wasn't near as bad but the bad passing was still noticeable, I feel that many of our passes that aren't turned over are often tipped. This wastes the shot clock and results with us forcing a tough shot. In result, we gave up many fast break lay ups because of poor passing in the beginning of last nights game. If GB could sure up the passing it would help greatly. Like others on here I'm not sure what BW is seeing in Fulton. However, the coaching staff is with these kids every day and sees things that we don't. I would really hope that if Fulton continues to play at this low level that BW gives either Findlay or Botz a shot. I feel that both have shown good things and could be solid contributors to the lineup.

While I agree that Fulton hasn't been productive, he is one of our better passers. Coach Wardle has stated the team needs to do a better job of making the easy pass, and that he's looking for a player who can execute and not try to do too much. That why Fulton and Humphrey are getting minutes.
My real frusteration with Fulton is that he forces so many 3's. The teams 3 point shooting % is way up this year, in large part because of improved shot selection. However, Fulton seems to have the same chucker mentality that Cougill and Cerroni had. No need to settle for contested 3's early in the shot clock on a team with this many scorers.
However, his time seems about to expire, as McKinnie should be back any day. When fully healthy, Alfonzo will likely soak up 30 minutes a game from players presently in the rotation.
Great to see C Love continue to knock down the 3 ball. It's become clear that there's no need for this program to settle for recruiting low upside, defensively challenged players just to get shooters. We'll develop our own shooters.

It's become clear that there's no need for this program to settle for recruiting low upside, defensively challenged players just to get shooters. We'll develop our own shooters. At this time I would say the following guys can shoot from 3: Brown Sykes (% is lower than the quality of shooter he really is) Love Botz Garrett (although he is almost guaranteed to heat check after a make) Botz (best looking shot on the team) I wouldn't give these guys the green light but I would let them take a wide open deep shot: Mays (so improved on jumper) Lowe (in warmups he has a really good looking stroke for a big) Fulton I would say these guys need work: Fouse Humphrey Findlay In the case of Josh and Tevin they need a overhaul on their form, I see no way they will be good shooters with how they shoot now. So I would agree with J, no need to settle for guys with no upside.
