A tremendous opportunity to honor the greatest player in program history, and then jump out of the Bennett shadow by beating his high major, ACC team. Tony was the reason I became a Phoenix fan, his skill level was amazing and still unmatched. A true testament to the limitless potential of an individual armed with nothing more than a burning passion and unrivaled work ethic.

Once again, Demovsky trying to rain on GB basketballs parade on twitter. "Disappointed @uvamenshoops coach Tony Bennett wouldn't take time to talk to @gbpressgazette before the UWGB game. Slap to his hometown fans."
He will not give it a rest. We get it Rob. You and Wardle do not like each other. Move on dude

Bennett speaks glowingly of GB, the school, it's team and fans as well as the city and state of Wisconsin. I'm sure it wasn't intended as a "slap". Dude is reading into things that don't exist.

It's a very old story. Rob did a very one sided piece on Coach Wardle when some mistreatment was alleged by 2 disgruntled explayers. Long drawn out investigation turned up nothing. Now it seems Rob is on a mission to discredit Coach Wardle and UWGB. Both Coach Bennett's are held in high esteem by UWGB and Green Bay fans. But it keeps Rob in the news and he hopes to drive a wedge between coaches and or fans? He has since switched from the Green Bay Press Gazette sports to ESPN Football so why he's involved I don't know?

I talked to Tonys sister over the summer and she said tony and her had great respect for coach wardle and were shocked by the allegations. So my guess is they know how rd gave the one sided version and kept them coming and don't want to associate with anything he was employed by.

"Slap in the face" is nowhere to be found in the Bennett dictionary.
There is no D-1 coach in college BB that would grant a one on one, Q&A with a paper the day before a road game. Plus, UVA was coming off the tourney last week in Corpus Christi, the UW game Wed, etc.... the travel to GB, little prep time.
RD's BS today is in line with the axe he had to grind with BW. When BW got the GB job, he was expecting the preferential treatment that TK gave him. BW told RD that he would be granted the same access and time (and inside info) that the rest of the media got. It was that plain and simple. It pissed RD off and he never got over it.

Game day! Should be a great one today. Virginia enters today 38th in RPI, Green Bay is 59th. The teams have had 1 common opponent, both hosted Wisconsin. Green Bay game versus UW came down to the final shot, Virginia was never really in the game in the 2nd half.
Looks likely that Green Bay will continue to play without one of its top players, as Alfonzo McKinnie is expected to miss his 7th game of the year, including the exhibition game, while recovering from meniscus surgery.
Look for the Phoenix to have numerous potential recruits in house today, including De Pere junior guard Brevin Pritzl.

Rob D needs to stop grinding his axe before it comes of the handle.....He's becoming Kardashian-like in his continued quest for relevance.
Hope GB has learned some things from the UW game and from the GAS. Sykes should be able to beat the UVA guards of the dribble. However, GB will need to hit a few from 3-pt. range and not miss shots at close range like they did against UW. Also they will need to be solid on the FT line.....If GB loses today, I have a feeling it will be because of the FT shooting.

Today is the day to make the statement GB is ready to win a big game. We missed on Harvard and Wisconsin it's time for a win. Go Phoenix.

This is a confidence builder for the Nix. Thanks to Tony Bennett for having the guts to bring his team to town. Many D1 coaches would not do it. It was nice to see Dick Bennett in the stands as well as Mike Heideman. (That might have been the first GB game Mike has attended since his exit. He deserves credit for his years at the school.)
Like I said earlier Keifer Sykes is in the UWGB player class with Tony Bennett and Jeff Nordgaard.
Mays,Fouse and Love are emerging and Brown has shaken off some early season issues.
This game should get the attention of the Green Bay community.

Nice game today guys! Congrats on the win! It should be a fun race in the Horizon League this year! Thanks Panther you had a nice win today to. This game was won by shear will power. We were out rebounded by 10, we shoot great on 2's, 3's and FT shooting was a difference maker. Anybody who knows my posts knows I alway harp on FT's if they shot 75% I want 80% but not today. We were out rebounded but we won the battle of TO's and steals and GB came up BIG. Virginia has a great team and put forth a lot of effort but a 3 as the clock wound down missed. Just out standing game with good shot selection. Mays may have had his best game and he's had a few already. KS took what they gave him. Virginia closed the lanes and he had few chances to penetrate to the basket. AB had a good game but got hurt by fouls in the 2nd half. Jordon was the glue on the steals + rebounds and continues to amaze me with his abilities. Last C Love came in and provided points and maturity I haven't seen both from him at the same time. There were others that worked hard in their roles. Over all great job men.

Great to see Carington hit some 3's and Greg played out of his mind today! Keifer was his (now) usual self. Not sure what is up with Alec, he's struggling.
