3 1/2 years to graduate, impressive. Good kid, nice guy. I would have thought that had he planned on staying at GB next year that BW would have given him a scholarship offer for being a great student and a hard worker, but at the same time I was hoping that scholarship wouldn't have been spent on him, since really how much can he contribute? But happy for DT and the team.

Can't really blame him, sounds like an opportunity to play with his brother and still graduate from Green Bay. I hope everything works out well for him. He has represented the team and the university well.

I have mixed emotions. I like that he has been a great student and member of the Phoenix community. I hate that he has had the injuries slow him down. I can see how he might not get to play as much given his health and the direction the program is going. I appreciate that he seems to be making this decision on his own. If the team goes to the NCAA tournament it would be kind of sad to not have him there especially since he is so respected by everyone within the program.

It's a smart move. He goes D2 on scholarship and has 18 months tuition free to get a master's degree. That would be a slam dunk for a kid as smart as Dan.

Was DT at the game yesterday or is he done with the team entirely? If he is done entirely that makes it a little less of a feel good story by not having him around for the next 7 weeks or so. Separately, any chance at all that GB could land Marquette transfer Jameel McKay? I know he is looking at Gonzaga and Iowa State with some talk that he was at uwm for a scrimmage as well. I see the role that McKinnie is going to play and I see how Greg Mays has grown in his game and I can't help but think Jimmie Foster and Carrington Love should show McKay a video of those guys. McKay could fit right in with those guys and not be buried on the bench and have to play just the post which were his issues at MU. Plus with DT leaving we have a scholarship open that ISU does not. I know it's a long shot but he would be a perfect fit and a beast for GB.

Turner was at the game sitting in section 222 alone. A number of fans stopped by to wish him well. I hope he is still on scholarship through the end of the semester. I have no idea what the rules would be regarding him being on the bench but not suited up.

I knew it was wishful thinking. ISU has a great story to tell with past success with transfers, I think McKay will do well there.

Best of luck to Daniel Turner, a terrific young man. Playing with your brother, and on a team you could possibly earn playing time on, is a tough opportunity to pass up.
With the departure of Turner, that means of the 6 non-seniors left behind by former Coach Kowalczyk, just 1 will finish his career playing D1 college basketball, Can you name him?

I don't get how that's relevant. Most of those players used multiple years of eligibility and would have to sit a year. Most schools wouldn't offer a player 3 years on a scholarship when they have to sit one. I know he asked Evans to go with him to Toledo and he declined.

Teams give scholarships to transfers all the time. What D1 teams don't do is give scholarships to transfers who are D2 or D3 caliber talents. Kowalczyk took the one good player in the program, Rian Pearson, with him to Toledo. Other than him, there really wasn't any high upside talent in the program. Easy to see that TK was going to be stuck in 3rd place if he stuck around. At least Tod did us a favor and took softy Matt Smith with him to Toledo too. Smith, a player Tod lauded as a future All-Horizon talent, as now a back-up in the MAC as a 5th year senior.
