"You can't get a medical redshirt if your not hurt two years."
Is inaccurate because guys are hurt one year or less than one year all the time and get approved. McKinnies issue would be having a sixth year approved in his circumstance.

"You can't get a medical redshirt if your not hurt two years." Is inaccurate because guys are hurt one year or less than one year all the time and get approved. McKinnies issue would be having a sixth year approved in his circumstance. I took the original quote to mean that McKinnie hasn't been hurt two years and therefore can't get a 6th year. It is the same net effect, he could not play this year anymore and it wouldn't change his ability to get an extra year since next year would be his 5th in college. If he were hurt again next year then maybe he could get a 6th year is what I understand.

There has to be more to this than meets the eye. How about some actual reporting on this from the local media?

There has to be more to this than meets the eye. How about some actual reporting on this from the local media? HIPPA laws may be preventing the team from being able share all the info on the injury. Al this point, I doubt he'd be able to make an impact this year. I'd still like to see him back just as a springboard into next year

If it was something more serious, I would think the team would hide behind HIPPA.....I hope it isn't anything that would require microfracture surgery (or something that he may have had already and coming back from).

Alfonzo McKinnie update in today's article about Tevin Findlay: Junior forward Alfonzo McKinnie (knee) is out against UIC, but the team still hopes he can return this season. “He is going to try to string together some practices,” Wardle said. “He is feeling better. He is making progress. We are taking it slow, and he wants to take it slow. ...We have advanced every week. I think with Al McKinnie, his mindset is he wants to do whatever he can do to help this team win. If that’s 5 minutes, if that’s no minutes, if that’s just being on the scout team in practice, he is going to do what it takes" www.greenbaypressgazette.com/article/20140204/GPG020101/302040403/
