Now that we have a full roster who do you think will be the starting 5, and who first of the bench, or what roles they will play. Obviously we know 3 players who starting spots are solidified.
PG-Sykes
SG-Garrett: I think having the extra size and athleticism in there will be a plus, as well as the ability to knock the three down.
SF-Fouse
PF-McKinnie: I love the energy and athleticism, especially the ability to draw defenders out, and it makes the most sense to me.
C-Brown
Bench in order:
Mays: I like having him as a sub. Being a little taller than Al McKinnie he can be a solid sub for Al Brown. I just think Greg is so flexible between the 4 and the 5 that having him as a sub makes the most sense, it will allow Alec to get a few more breaths barring foul trouble.
Humphrey: I almost penciled him in at the 2 with his shooting seemed to have improved, but just coming back from the knee injury I don't foresee them pushing him right away. Maybe down the line they will move him in if Garrett struggles. He also can stretch all the way to the 4 if they go with a small lineup, or the 3, moving Fouse to the 4.
Love: From everything I have seen and read he has improved a lot so far. He could definitely be put in at the 2 as well, but having the ability to run the point as well he has to come off the bench. Hopefully his 3 point shooting continues to improve.
Botz: Simply going to be a 3 point shooter for now as I see it. But his outside shooting will bring him this far up in the rotation to get some minutes.
Findlay: Not sure what to entirely expect from him, hopefully he can just add some depth. Could gain minutes if there's a struggle for who plays the 2. Also if Carrington hits a slump again this year he could gain some more time and move up.
Lowe: Exciting prospect. Will continue the Lob City trend, but still young, and with Fouse, McKinnie, Brown, Mays, and Humphrey all being able to play the 4 or the 5, I don't see him getting a lot of time early, but like everyone else it could change.
Turner: Don't think he'll play at all this year. As for next year, if he still has a year left or goes to grad school at GB, I think Wardle will offer him a scholarship in principle as he's a good kid and had some unfortunate injuries. However I hope he doesn't take it, or I'm wrong about BW offering him one. This scholarship could be used much wiser, especially with Alec graduating.
Fulton: Not sure where to pencil him in as I don't know much about him. 5'10" with solid ball handling and decent range, could work his way to the back up PG spot. We'll have to see.
All in all, I love the athleticism and depth this team has. I truly believe that barring serious injury to one of our big 3, we'll be dancing come March.
