Went to the game last year, but I just can't justify the ticket price plus the gas to go see us get beat down again this year. Marquette is a really fun team to watch on TV. I think they are an example of what GB wants to be - Athletic, fast, & push the ball. Anyways, maybe we can put together a good game and hang within 10. That would def be a moral win.

Well that is one of the most confident games I have watched from Alec Brown. He showed the full display of his skills.
As for the rest of the game it was hard to watch because Marquette is so much stronger and athletic that they really kept GB from doing anything. Plus when GB did have open looks it felt like they rushed them because Marquette has been putting pressure on them all game.
So while I am disappointed by the outcome I don't see a team in the HL that has that kind of size/athletic ability/determination as MU so I am hopeful GB will be competitive in league play.

MU is deep, strong, and athletic at the perimeter. MU may finish in the top 4-5 in the Big East, so this loss may not look as bad as it does.....But GB's guards will determine how far this team goes the rest of the season; hopefully they will improve as a group when the bulk of the conference games come up after New Year's.....

box scoreRob Demovsky's recapRare to be positive after an 18 point loss, but I am after this game. GB outrebounded Marquette. Brown dominated. Johnson continued to show his ability to score off the bounce. Cerroni hit 3 triples and had 4 assists. The half court defense was strong, forcing 15 turnovers. The FG% numbers were skewed by MU's 32 fast break points. Turnovers continue to be an issue. One simple adjustment needs to be to get players cutting to the basket when we have a player drive baseline. A ton of our turnovers have occurred trying to pass back to the top. It gets much easier from here on out. The Nix have faced 6 top 100 RPI teams in their 1st 10 games, 5 of those on the road. Only 4 of the 18 remaining scheduled games are versus top 100 RPI teams (Valpo and CSU twice each).

They might finish in the top 4-5 in the country. They're 3rd in RPI right now. Very impressive team that plays a style that players want to play, and that allows them to recruit top talent.

Once again I was bothered by the number of turnovers, especially the unforced ones like Cougill stepping over the line on an in bounds play. Also the handoff between Cougill and Johnson, where Johnson stepped over the line after receiving the pass.
I thought Brown played very well, but we need some other scoring so that teams can not concentrate on preventing Brown from getting the ball.
The schedule will get easier from here on out. As a whole, the Horizon League has been dropping in the polls.
