The University of Toledo signs coach Tod Kowalczyk to a two-year contract extension through the 2018-19 season.
After taking over a program in trouble Kowalczyk's team went 4-28, in his first season. In his second year, Toledo was 19-17. This season's team was held out of postseason play due to Academic Progress Rate issues yet tied for first in the Mid-American Conference's West Division with a 10-6 mark. Toledo was 15-13 overall. (The APR issues were tied to the former Toledo coach.)
The Rockets have four starters back in 2013-14, that includes first-team All-MAC selection Rian Pearson. ( One of the players defections from Kowalczyk's exit from Green Bay.)
The poll results will be revealed on the 18th.

At this point in time I would have to give the nod to Coach K. He has taken over two programs that had fallen on hard times and fairly quickly turned them in to above average mid majors. The knock against Coach K. is that he hasn't won anything important yet and I am not sure if or when he will ever break through.
Coach Wardle on the other hand has a much higher ceiling and has brought in enough talent to possibly win the big games that Coach K. hasn't. However, Coach Wardle had a much better starting point and has yet to have a great season.
A year from now I would hope that GB is coming off of a trip to the big dance and maybe even a win. At that point in time I would expect the coversation to be about if GB can hold on to Coach Wardle and not if he was better than Coach K.
