Wright St (15-8,6-4) @ Green Bay (12-11,6-4) Thursday, Febuary 7, 7:00, The Resch Center
WSU was playing great ball to open conference play, but has now lost 3 of their last 4, and needed to come from behind late to beat Loyola last night on their home floor. Ultra-important match-up for both teams, as they're tied for 3rd, 1 game out of 2nd, and 1 1/2 games out of 1st. GB played their worst game of conference play at WSU, and payback is needed.

A quote from the Dayton newspaper. Looks like it may be their game plan, stop the BIGS?
Coach Billy Donlon on Green Bay: “They’re different than the first time around. They’re running their offense through their bigs. When we played the first time, it was the guards trying to make plays.”

This team is frustrating.....24 turnovers; 18 turnovers between Brown, Cougs, and Fouse alone. What is it with our bigs turning the ball over? Brown an Cougs are veteran players and this should not happen as often as it is........Again, nothing from the SG position with the exception of Stefan. Wish he wouldn't have gotten himself suspended after he was eligible earlier this season. Those 3 extra games could have helped this team.

Official Kipp Kissinger should never be allowed to do another HL game again. He took the game away from the players, embarrassed his profession, and ruined what could have been a great game. The HL needs to address this issue immediately.

The HL needs to address this issue immediately. I thought I was the only one to think he's the worst ref in the league. In the top 3 worst reffed games I've seen since the mid 90's. Really frustrated because even with all the bad and no calls we still should have won. Yes turnovers were just unacceptable. We were comparing the physical play to Cleveland state of a few years ago. Back then we used to joke they would make good offensive linemen with all the holding and blocking going on.

The officiating for the game was the worst I have ever seen and I did play by play for years. That said both teams had to deal with that issue. (Sykes got hammered repeatedly on drives) Sykes clearly is not 100 percent and that was the game.
Turnovers indicate a lack of focus. The suspensions this season underline that focus and control that's needed for a winning team.
What a frustrating game to watch.

Frustrating is right. Lots of things to point at as to reasons but one thing stands out and thats turnovers. The players that are currently eligible to play, and there turnovers:
Sykes 64 Brown 64 Fouse 45 Cougill 45 Love 29 Muhammad 25 Mays 21 Cerroni 21 Stefan 6 (Stefan has had only 131 min, compared to next lowest Mays at 400 min)
These guys have to learn how to hang on to the ball, especially the bigs.
Also, let Sykes get healthy!
Still wanna be a fan!

I had to make an account just to argue that Steve Skiles is bar-none, hands down, irrefutably the worst Horizon League official. And I actually think that Kipp is one of the most consistent that we have seen in a long time. I'd put him up with both of the Simpson brothers and Joe DeRosa.

I would agree with Raider... Skiles is thee worst. Fortunately, he only does a handful of games in the Horizon. Skiles assumed the distinguished honor from Tim Hutchinson.

Ha. Glad to see somebody agrees with me. I am very relieved to see the lightening of his Horizon League load. Begs the question, he doesn't get many Horizon games, the word must be out....No conferences want him. But with Skiles, it's not just calls...he is constantly out of position and making calls as a trailing official when the lead official should have the call...and if there is indecision on the court or 2 refs have made two different calls, he's like the lead hammer...always what he says...regardless if another official has a better view. Another thing that pisses me off, is he loves making dramatic calls even more dramatic against the home team. Like is just trying to piss off the fans, because they can do nothing about it, and if the coach retaliates, he drops a T on them....On that note, he drops a T in 31% of games called...that's quite high for someone who is living in the mid majors.

Turned on your game today, saw you had Skiles...laughed a bit on the inside. Didn't watch much, but the league must have seen our conversation =]

I was so frustrated after this loss that I had to avoid posting. Really the same story as before. Too many turnovers and too many missed free throws.
I like Young, Sledge, Arceneaux and Darling yet WSU also plays other guys that I don't think look like D1 players. Yet the way they play together is pretty impressive. Once again they didn't beat themselves, where as GB did.

Then he went back to talk to the fan more before an inbounds play. It just looked bush league.

Skiles always enjoys talking to the long time fans in the first couple of rows.... One of the few things he is good at.
