Cleveland St. is expected to continue to be without injured sophomore stud Anton Grady. That's a huge blow to them. Green Bay is going for their 4th straight win, 7th straight at home.

I don't know about today but I do expect the Nix to be radically better as the season progresses. In the end the injuries and suspensions will help the team unless it means a season ending situation, for a player. (depth could become an issue) Wardle and Company are developing a brand. There have been ups and downs this season but I feel most of that has been because of injuries, suspensions and blending in the freshman talent. We'll know if my prediction is right if they start winning on the road. Alec Brown's season has been less than I expected. Did all that talk of leaving early for the NBA impact his focus? He clearly needs another year and with the supporting cast he will increase his pro stock. On a side note did you listen to the post game noozer with Brennan Cougill? He sounds like a young man who has found religion. That seems to me like an example of the suspension and the possible end of his college career getting his attention. Good for him and the message continues to go out to the team with the Greg Mays suspension. These are important lessons to teach.

GB wins 77-50??.....Didn't see that one coming. The conference is beginning to reset itself as it was predicted by many. UIC and LU are realizing that they are UIC and LU; Valpo and WSU (still a surprise that they are undefeated) at the top and GB and UDM right behind them.....However, GB now has 4 games on the road (Valpo, UWM, UIC and LU) and need to figure out how to win on the road NOW. Go 3-1 (I'm conceding Valpo) and they are still in the hunt for one of the top seeds in the HL tourney, go 1-3 or 0-4 and you many be right back near the bottom of the HL standings before their current 4 game winning steak and become another Jekyll and Hyde team and end up right around .500 again.
If GB can go 3-1 on the next roadie, hold serve at home the remainder of the season, and go 1-1 on their last road trip to YSU and CSU, and win their BB road game, they may be in the hunt. WSU will have to come back to earth during that time. They can't go undefeated forever, and I don't believe they are as good as their record shows right now (they still have 2 games against Valpo, 2 games against UDM, and 1 game at GB)

Here's Rob Demovsky's gamestory: Green Bay routs Cleveland StDominant performance by the Phoenix today. With Packers season over, the crowds returned, and they got a treat. Wardle's 1-2-2 zone was awesome. Any shots CSU took inside were in the face of shotblockers, and were rejected. Many of the 3s they took had to be shot over Phoenix big men contesting them. Jordan Fouse is the Scottie Pippen of the Horizon League. He's a defensive terror, and he's learning where he can score. Sultan Muhammad lit it up again. Wardle needs to be more consistent with his minutes. He is the most complete player of GB's 2-guard options. Alec Brown seems to have his mind right again. His rim protection game is back, his shotblocking today was thwarting. Cougs was a bull in the paint once again, but can't buy a 3. Given his career numbers, he's overdue for a monster game from long range. Only player who struggled in a major role was DT. I love him, but he is just way to turnover prone. Memo to Greg Mays: take care of your responsibilities and get your butt back on the floor. Phoenix recruiting targets Brevin Pritzl and Cody Schwartz were in to see the Phoenix today. This capped off a very successful homestand. Hopefully they can take this defense with them on the road.

A few more things from yesterday's game: - With the win Brian Wardle's record at home improves to 31-7 - The win also propells the Phoenix into a tie for 3rd place, 1 1/2 games behind 1st place Valpo. - Cleveland St has an outstanding freshman of their own in 6-3 SG Bryn Forbes. They may be down this year, but next year when they get Anton Grady back from injury, transfer Trey Lewis becomes eligible, and Forbes will form a very impressive team. They do need 1 more quality big, and he doesn't appear to be on their roster. - Nick Arenz returned for this game after missing 2 games with a quad bruise. Here's Andrew Gavin's game recap complete with box score, highlight video, and post game presser video.

What a difference having true point guards make. I think that is a lesson Wardle learned from seeing the difficulties Kowalczyk teams had with two guards trying to play point.

A really good team win. Many different guys contributed to this win. It was great to see Fouse score in a variety of ways. Brown again bringing the blocks, what switched was flipped for him? CSU is missing guys and young so it is hard to put a lot fo weight on the score but the key was they didn't play down to circumstance.
I agree, I think CSU is going to be tough in future years. They are reloading with young and athletic guys.
It sucks that the next road game is valpo. Granted GB has done well there in the past but that is a good team. I am really believing that this team is ready to get a few road wins. They easily won 3 of the 4 games at home. That is a good sign. If they struggle to win at home they are unlikely to win on the road based on past experience.
