No one has commented about last nights game so I will. The best game I've seen Alec play in a long time. The only thing holding him back was two fouls thet he didn't deserve in the 1st half. 1st one he jumped straight up and got the rebound, the other player jumped into him and he was called for the foul(a lot of booing by the fans close to the play). 2nd one was just as bad. He was 8-10 and the 2 misses rolled around the rim and could have fallen. Hopefully this is the break out he needed. He still hesitated a couple of times but he did start hunting his shot in the 2nd half. Everyone played great and the game was never in doubt. Sykes is the glue that holds everything together and will take over the game when needed. Mays, Sultan, Fouse, Kam, and Love all performed at or above what I expected. Great win for the Phoenix, I was afraid after Wednesday they might have a let down. What was amazing was team speed, GB was faster and sometimes they looked like they could do what ever they wanted to. They shot over 50% from the field. The only marginal item was FT's which was 70%(I know picky). I like 75% and they did miss a couple of front ends of 1-1's. If they had made them we probably would have won by 5 more points. Great job men keep it up.

Thanks for getting things started JJ, always feel free to start the thread.
I like how Green Bay took over this game playing man defense. GB won the Marquette game with a junk zone, but to be honest most Horizon League teams could easily outshoot Marquette. I thought it was a smart move by Wardle to open this game in the zone. It took SD a few trips to figure it out, but they eventually hit 3 triples to take a 17-14 lead. It sent the players a very clear message that the 1-2-2 zone is a gimmick, not a standard defense. Wardle then called timeout and switched to man, and GB owned the game from that point forward.
I also liked the Wardle was continually reminding his team not to get overextended on defense. The overextending style is what has this team at 7 losses already. If they play a standard man defense, and don't pressure out to 30 feet, they have the talent to defend and win. This team doesn't have the quickness on the wings to play an overplaying defense.
Alec Brown was outstanding offensively in this game. It was his 1st good game of the season. He was smooth, confident, and under control offensively, and did it while playing against a 6'10" senior who'll get all-conference recognition in the Summit League. When Alec gets his defensive anticipation back, he'll be a complete player again.
Greg Mays is really stepping up in his new role. His teammates missed him open in the post several times early on, but he continued to fight for position and call for the ball. He has a post game now and aggressively attacks the hoop. He also threw a few really nice passes, his court vision has really improved.
Keifer Sykes is awesome.

It was good to see GB easily handle this game without much of a let down after the MU win. The overall record isn't that good but many of the games this season have been close. Good teams find ways to win and bad teams don't. Since GB was losing I was worried they were a bad team. Knowing that in this game the better team won easily it feels like a good sign that team may be turning the corner.
Alec had his best game of the season and he didn't do it against a small guy either. Great sign, now he just needs to get his defensive game back.
I loved how aggressive Greg Mays was in this game. He went hard to the rim. He seems to be an improved free throw shooter as well, which is key for a guy who is going to the rim so hard.
