Hello from Pittsburgh!
What do you guys think of this game? Is your big man a major threat? This will be Duquesne's home opener so it should be a pretty good atmosphere. Get ready to play against one of the best young point guards in the nation, T.J. McConnell.

Hello from Pittsburgh! What do you guys think of this game? Is your big man a major threat? This will be Duquesne's home opener so it should be a pretty good atmosphere. Get ready to play against one of the best young point guards in the nation, T.J. McConnell. Welcome DukesDan. Your team handled us pretty good in GB last year. Now it's at your place, that's scary. I think your team's 3 point shooting strength will be the difference. Our inexperienced unit just doesn't understand when and how much to help defensively. That leaves us very suseptable to 3 point gunners. I do think we'll give you a better game than last year for 3 reasons. First, our big man is legit. Do you have anyone with the length and agility to match up with him? 2ndly, we crash the glass. Your team seems athletic as usual, but doesn't look as big as last year, and I think we'll win the rebound battle by a decent margin. 3rd, our freshman PG is a serious defender. McConnell killed us last year. Sykes will really make him work, unlike a year ago. Best of luck to you DukesDan. Will there be video streaming available for this game? If so, what's the cost?

Here is Rob Demovsky's preview. I knew Duquesne was going to play small this year, but I didn't realize their starting 5 was as small as Lawrence and Mary. They're starting lineup is 6'7", 6'5", 6'2", 6'1", 5'11". Their 3 top bench players are 5'11", 6'5", and a 6'8" 210 pound freshman reserve center. Brown should have his way today. Look for Jarvis to also have a big game as he'll just shoot pull-ups over his man all day. The Nix need to pound this team on the glass. The problem will be making Duquesne miss. They'll have four 3 point bombers on the floor at all times. They hit 15 of 24 against us last year. Thats tough to beat. Also, Duquesne looks to force turnovers. They were outrebounded by 12 by Arizona, but made it a game by forcing 20 turnovers. The Nix must take care of the ball. That's a tough assignment for such an inexperienced unit. Still haven't decided if I'll pay for the pay-per-view of the stream today.

GoDuquesne.com will have streaming video. I am not sure you can pay for an individual game but a monthly package from all access in 10 dollars.
Our front court is inexperienced and small for sure. Having out 7'1 transfer from Radford available would help in this game but he has to sit out the first 4 games. If the Dukes shoot as poorly as they did against Arizona you guys could escape with a win.

Good game. Thanks for not being obnoxious away fans in the arena. You guys have some good talent at the center position. I wish your team luck the rest of the way.

The youth of the Phoenix was on full display today. Lots of turnovers, struggled to finish lay-ups, and didn't execute team defense. Early foul trouble by Kiefer Sykes didn't help. The positive was they dominated the glass. Offensive execution was much better in the 2nd half. Game story by Andrew Gavin and Rob Demovsky's game blog.

I listened to the game on the radio as I was driving home yesterday. I was able to catch everything until the last 6 minutes.
It was really hard to listen to the game. The turnovers were really frustrating. Plus the fouls, GB but them in the bonus early in the 1st and 2nd half and they were making while GB was missing their free throws.
GB was on the glass but several of those offensive boards were just GB getting missed layups and missing again and again. At some point they have to convert.
I would have expected holding them to 6 made 3's at 31% and beating them on the glass that score would have been a lot closer.
If I am not mistaken NDSU is 3-0. Let's see how quick Coach Wardle gets them to regroup.
