Feels like we have been hardly playing lately and we still got 4 days to this big showdown. I am hoping to see the Kress essentially sold out as it will be a Friday night. We had a chance to beat them late at their place earlier in the year. Since that game both teams have went in opposite directions. Lets hope that trend continues and we can get a much needed win to keep pace with Oakland. I will be making the trip up from Madison to attend and hope you all are attending yourselves. Lest get the Kress rocking!

Lest get the Kress rocking! I'm really hoping there are 3,000 plus for each game. If they end up with 6,000 over 2 games that's a win. When there's 2,000 in the Kress it gets decently loud, I want to hear it sold out! Students need to show up and support the team, to me that's where the biggest difference in getting 3,000 regularly. The students have to buy in and stay here this weekend!

Ugh, 6:00 PM tipoff sucks. But alas, get your fish fries in early.
Meaningful basketball in late February is fun. These next two games are the most important regular season home games we’ve had in like 8 years. If we’re serious about Division 1 basketball then the Kress needs to be sold out for both games.

Game day is finally here! 9 days is too long to go without a Phoenix game. I’m excited to see the atmosphere tonight, it’s been a long time since a meaningful game has been played at the Kress. I’ve never been as bullish on more games being played at the Kress, as I think 3000 people there makes for a tougher environment than 3000 at the Resch does. Obviously the caveat there is that it requires a season like this to actually get 3000+ to travel out to campus for a game. I wouldn’t want the Kress to be our primary home, as I understand it he role the Resch plays in recruiting and attracting/maintaining fans, but I do like the idea of having a couple of heavily marketed games at the Kress late in the season to ramp up excitement for the post season.
As another post mentioned, another thing I’m interested to see is the student turnout. It’s been a while since they’ve had decent student interest in the team, so hopefully we’re starting to see that change. I’d also hope there’s an actual “student section” and the students aren’t just placed on a side section somewhere. When I was a student and the women’s team would host a big game against Wisconsin or Marquette at the Kress, the end bleacher section where the band plays would be overflowing with students. Not sure what the plan is tonight or how many students will actually show up, but I’d love to see something like that.
Lastly, as far as the game goes, part of me worries that it’s easy to look past Fort Wayne with the YSU game on Sunday, but any time I’ve doubted Sunny this season I’ve looked like a fool, so I think the crowd energy tonight fuels them to a comfortable victory.

Flashbacks to the Will Ryan era tonight, except with people in the stands. Embarrassing loss.
Turn the page quick because YSU comes to town on Sunday.

Tonight felt like a season ending loss. They poopied the bed with a large crowd that won’t return for Sunday now.
If Reynolds is out which he sounds like he is there is a legit chance this team loses five in a row to end the year.
Only silver lining is it would all but guarantee Sunny is back next year. Noah probably too.
This program continues to find new ways to break my heart each and every year.
I’m absolutely pissed off and heartbroken at the same time.

Also maybe focus more on having your team ready and less on doing movie spoofs. Especially after you lost a game and had a nine day layoff to stew over it

That has a humility bath. Rebuilds always hit a wall or two in the first season. The team was not ready to play tonight and this was an opportunity lose. Can they regroup by Sunday? My fandom was shaken this evening, I guess my hopes and budding expectations for immediate overwhelming success need adjustment.

I missed watching the game since I went out to dinner with the wife. Did Reynolds not play due to the illness he had since the last YSU game, or did he get hurt tonight? Even without Reynolds, that doesn’t mean the rest of the team should forget how to play defense or show effort and desire. We also go next to no production from the rest of the guards. Just when this program begins to build momentum in the community (even in past years) they will pull a game like this where they get their a** kicked and show the community at large ‘GB basketball isn’t back yet.’

I think that I am more disappointed with the fans than I am with the team getting blown out. You guys make it sound like the program is falling apart because of one lose. I am sure most of you thought that Jordan Love could not play either and how did that turn out? They won 17 game this year. Sure I am disappointed they got blown out tonight, but I am not ready to give up on the season. They lost because they didn't or wouldn't control the pace of the game and did not play defense either. there is no way that they can run with any team in this league and Wicks is to good of a coach to let this happen again. Everyone should be happy with the direction the team is going in. Go Phoenix.

I don't know what we watched last night but I'm confident we won't see that again anytime soon.
It is natural for people to look at the coaching carousel, the transfer portal or getting a decent crowds as the season winds down.
It is probably natural to give up some belief after a humbling loss like last night.
In 32 hours all of that needs to be shoved aside and the task of beating YSU without Noah Reynolds needs to be the singular focus.
Around the world there are thriving cities that begin many days with a little fog. The clouds might feel a little low right now but that doesn't mean the sky is falling on this season.

It feels like this team peaked too early (like a team in Madison). They very easily could have lost four in a row already and I could see them losing out.
The only silver lining to that would be Wicks and probably Reynolds would stay next year for sure. Then Wicks would have a full offseason to build his program actually recruit some size and I think they would be favored to win conference.
Regardless of what happens they exceeded expectations this year. What happened last night is what I expected to happen all year but they changed expectations with their play so it’s very disappointing.
When I talk to people in the area that are Badger fans and casual GB fans they still joke that only 20 people listen to the podcast out there and no fans show up. And unfortunately after games like last night, they are proven why.
Sunny can’t tell people to show up and when they finally do have his team unprepared to play especially after a nine day layoff. It leads me to believe Reynolds might be done for the year. That would be the only explanation for the team playing this way and not being there mentally.
There’s losing and there’s not showing up. You can’t not show up especially at home when the fans did. If you’re not gonna show Up at least do it on the road or in front of no fans

Just take a breath. This team has already done more than anyone else thought. Have faith and drink some 🧃.
