Sorry I’ve been gone for awhile. But unlike yayphoenixyay I’ll give credit where credit’s due! I don’t know what changed or how it changed but this team has 2014-15 vibes to me!
After beating Wright St on the road I’m all in now! It’s NCAA this year or bust. And unfortunately it has to be because if this team wins 20 games like it should at this point Sunny is probably gone which is sad but the reality of today’s college basketball.
Let’s win today and set the stage for a first place battle Thursday so we can pack the Resch!
I look forward to watching Phoenix basketball each and every time they play now which is something I haven’t said since Covid!

Yeah, this game is huge, as it creates a battle for sole possession of 1st at home Thursday, or creates the need to win Thursday to create a tie for 1st.

Maybe Cade Meyer will experience some transfer-portal regret today

Never easy to win two in a row on the road against quality teams, but every time I doubt this team they seem to prove me wrong, so a win tonight wouldn’t surprise me at all. And it would also make Thursdays game a big as it gets, so I’m really hoping they keep the streak going.

Worst half in a while for GB, nothing seemed to be falling. Games not out of reach though, and they’ve shown to be a good second half team so we’ll see how they come out in the second.

Tough shooting night, the entire team just couldn’t score. The Phoenix are getting demoted to the second screen now, guess it’s up to the packers to make me happy tonight.

I blame this on the fair weather fan above.

After the high this team has been in the last few games, time to come back to earth. Hopefully this team will use this loss to refocus and learn that the HL is too tight this year to take anyone lightly.
Hope we get back DD soon, we need that depth at guard. Also, where is Amari Jedkins?

I will chalk this up to Wicks and company going up against an unusual defense for the first time on a short prep time.
I expect them to make adjustments for the rematch at home on Valentine's Day.

Hope we get back DD soon, we need that depth at guard. Also, where is Amari Jedkins? Jedkins had been out with a foot bone reaction (essentially what you get before a fracture). I haven't heard arecent update, but the original timeline would have him back anytime. Douglass could have been huge in this game. He's a zone busting caliber shooter, on a team a little short on shooting.

Although a tough loss, still a few positives: limited turnovers, hit their free throws, rebounded well. These are three things that hurt them early in the year. Sadly, just an overall poor shooting performance, which happens against a good D. I expect the Phoenix will turn it around Thursday night at home. Let’s make some noise!

Some ball movement issues against UNK's D, lead to poor shooting in this one, Itejere caused some missed shots inside. Lots of classroom stuff for Wicks and Company to work on. A reminder, Shaka Smart recruited Itejere who spent two years at Marquette. GB could use an athletic big with some muscle.
