Conference road games are rarely easy, but this is a game they need to win. Detroit is 0-15 and even IUPUI beat them by double digits. GB is currently only -3 favorites, which surprised me a little as I thought they’d be favored by a few more points than that. Ultimately as long as GB shows up and plays an average game, they should bring home the win. And with a tough game against Oakland up next, you’d love to win this and secure a split (at the very least) on the Michigan road trip.

Let’s hope the guys learned from SIUE and Western Illinois because if we didn’t we will lose tonight.

It's a terrific opportunity to improve to 4-1 in conference play.

Green Bay with their usual 2nd half surge, pushing their lead to 21 3 minutes in.

How on earth was the spread for this game only 3 points? Free money.

An 18 point road conference win while playing end of bench players big minutes hasn't been an option for a long time. This team is good.

I am happy they took care of business, they were expected to win and they did. It was great to see the bench come through. This team has more bench strength than any in recent memory.

Detroit is not very good, one of the worst teams I have seen and that is saying something after what Phoenix fans have seen.
With that as a backdrop, GB did exactly what you would want them to do. They took care of them early and relied on lots of different guys to make an impact. Wicks seemed super comfortable letting the bench guys play for extended time in the second half even as Detroit made a mini run. Wicks let them play through it and that is part of empowering guys to be ready and keep getting better.
Overall it was a good night to be a Phoenix fan.

Yeah the 3 point spread really assumed we would lay an egg there. I'm hoping that we're on a roll now and we got flat performances out of the way against our non-conference losses to SI-Edwardsville and Western Illinois. That end of first half 3-point toss-in by Wonders was a definite OMG moment. Will Eames with 14 rebounds! Didn't it feel weird watching Detroit without Antoine Davis? It felt like that dude was there for like a decade, haha!

Giving the bench guys a run is important for a number of reasons -- experience, evaluation of potential and simply to give key players a rest. I mentioned Wade filling in during the Robert Morris game when Ruedinger was hurt. It took the pressure off of Reynolds for ballhandling duties and was helpful in the win.
Wade got more PT against Detroit. Having that additional option at the point guard will be a key in late season. Getting the rust off by getting on court is part of the process.
Eames showed us something last night. I'd like to see his plus/minus numbers. It's clear he did outstanding work on the boards. Antchak had some deer in the headlights moments, but I kept asking myself is there something there that can be developed? For now his game is below the rim and bulk muscle. Is he slow or inexperienced and tentative because of that?
Games like last night's give a coaching staff and individual players a lot of information to digest. It was an important building block for long term program development.
