I've been critical over the years of the Nix marketing effort. I'm glad to say things have made an exponential improvement. The AD and new head men's basketball coach deserve a tip of the hat.

Wait a second they didn’t show any video of them working on their 1-3-1 offensive sets. SMH

A multi-part series from Executive Producer Sundance Wicks on why Sundance Wicks would take such and awful job and how Sundance Wicks is going to rise them up from #362? This feels a lot more about promoting Sundance than it does GB basketball. He did this stuff at Missouri Western too and I just think it’s strange.

A rising tide raises all ships. Tides eventually recede.

I love the behind the scenes access and how big time and professionally done this documentary turned out to be. At the same time I guess I can see how some people might be put off by seeing Wicks listed as an executive producer.
In my view - to continue the water analogy - the tide for this program has been covered in municipal sewage overflow the past few years. All I care about is getting it cleaned up and back to relevance. I think this documentary will help increase the exposure for the program and also allows people to get to know the players (and yes, the coach) better than they normally would which makes it more interesting to follow the team. They’re taking the embarrassment of being the worst program in the country and trying to capitalize on what would be a great turnaround story.
This whole thing is irrelevant if they don’t improve much from 362, which I am confident they can do.

I've covered college basketball teams from the upper Midwest, to Virginia, Oklahoma and Texas -- from Lute Olsen, to Terry Holland and Nolan Richardson. A successful program needs a leader. They come in different styles. All of them have an intensity, some show it selectively and others you will see it 24/7. The test for any coach is to make it better and pass on a foundation for the future. The Nix program needed electric shock treatment to revive it.
During the job search this was my take on the candidate that was pick. "Sundance Wicks has the persona of Buzz Williams, Dick Vitale, and the posture child for Red Bull." If he is successful in Green Bay this fan will be happy. Currently, at the very least he has put a team of legitimate D1 players together who won the school's first road game in three years and drawn attention to what had become the Bad News Bears of division one basketball.
In place are outstanding assistant coaches and former players with strong ties to the teams quality past. Those are building blocks that have the potential to allow the ship to deal with the tides of change.

Nice video, I look forward to watching the series.
It is going to be the Sundance show, it's the reason he got the job and Tharp or Brannen didn't. They can't carry something like this.
Usually executive producers are money people and not the creative people in a production. I take it as a way to get Wicks paid if the video series blows up.

I need the steak, not the sizzle.
