The athletic department has taken an exponential jump in marketing the Nix program. They seem to be learning along the way and getting much better every week. Coach Wicks is an asset because of his high energy persona that is difficult to ignore. It's hard to believe the energy will not translate to games. Wicks on his own makes more enthusiast noise than some of crowds in the stands at last season's games.

It's OK. Feels very out of date.

Feel like there is a lot of things the department is behind on as a whole. Wicks was the correct hire. He's his own internal marketing department.

The athletic department took a bunch of highlights or audio clips and made a 2 minute hype video in June. A video that like most other recent videos includes a call to action at the end to buy tickets.
I won't diminish one bit of that effort. The content doesn't have to be perfect. It has to be consistent. This is about reconnecting to community. It doesn't happen in one shot. It happens by consistently being in the public eye and they seem to be doing a much better job than at anytime in the recent past.

I think it should have been two videos. One with the player intros and one with the quotes from Sunny and the shots of practice. I think its just too long and most will never watch all the way 'til the call to action at the end.
Agree that its a good first step and I am being overly critical. But these types of hype videos are almost always less than a minute in length.

The fact is an effort is being made. Working in commercial television and teaching at the college level I can tell you that you are always looking at ways to improve the story telling. Every video I ever produced could have been better -- the editing, the writing, the voice work. Things few other people noticed would jump off the screen at me.
In the past I've been critical of the GB Athletic Department's marketing effort. What I see now is is an effort that is encouraging. On a shoestring, with inexperienced tech support, things are getting done. Social media is finally being regularly utilized.
I believe in pushing the window and that's what is happening. Energy and passion is being projected.
On a somewhat related note -- look at what GB has in Coach Wicks. He's a hyper-active guy who has had some tough twists and turns in his career. As an assistant in this business you hook your star to the career of a head coach. For a handful of reasons that did not fast track things. His brother who was on the same track left the business. Most would have done the same thing. Sundance did not.
This is his D1 chance at the brass ring. If he can turn things around here his ticket is punched.
